Rick.... It's 944, of course it leaks oil...

We have a fellow who shows up for every auto-x in a Volvo 740 wagon complete with fart can and baby seat. It may look silly but it sure is slow. :D

morning all. paid gig tonight for Connor. Lets see if he can pull off a show stopper like the other night.

So cool, David! Does he have stuff posted on the Internet?

I survived my run... Even though it is freaking hot here in AZ.

That most 911's all sweat or weep oil, sure, but that all 944s leak oil is nonsense.
Both my 944's were bone dry.

go to youtube search mitsub5 and then look for Destination Unknown. The sound is not that great but you will get the point.

and shot a CZ 750 bolt action from an other guy at the range today
It had a bigass scope on it..

http://www.czub.cz/upload/cz-big/CZ_750_S1_M1_SPORT.png

That stock to me looked crude, heavy, didn't like it much.

Shooting it, was a bit weird, not used to a scope..And damn what a hair trigger.
First shot went off before i even knew it.. i was thinking to get my preload, having just shot the M1a with the 2 stage trigger.. bam off it went.

Definitely need another go at a scoped bolt action, it's a completely different thing from shooting irons on my M1a...

The jag Landy dealer had their owner appreciation day today, did a complimentary 180pt inspection and found no service to be done. Got a free meal and a keychain out if it too!

svandamme 04-21-2012 12:10 PM

Do they really call it that ? "owner appreciation day"?

Good afternoon guys an gals.

It is a perfect San Diego weather day here. For those that have never been there, it is clear blue skies light breeze and the low this morning was a crisp 50 and the high is 72 or so. Just perfect weather. The autocross was fun but VERY tight in parts. One really needed a downshift to 1st in at least three places. Since I have a 915 transmission in my 911 I don't do that. Destroying 1st gear syncros for a couple seconds faster time does not appeal to me. My virtually stock 911 does not need the abuse.

svandamme 04-21-2012 12:30 PM

Normally you should never downshift to first unless you have, or plan to come, to a complete stop.

GH85Carrera 04-21-2012 12:32 PM

Sid those tires of your sound like they have a lot of debris pickup. Sticky tires will do that.

Yep, and I just don't do it unless I am moving slow, and not in a hurry.

svandamme 04-21-2012 12:38 PM

if you're moving slow, and not in a hurry, stay in 2nd, even at 1mph..
the only way i could ever see myself downshifting to 1st when i'm still rolling... is if i'm in some kind of really bad spot and really have to get out of there in a bad hurry.

like traffic jam, and a 18 wheeler coming up from behind at speed.
you know, crunch time avoidance.

Sorry, its 'owners only personalized jaguar land rover clinic'
Like I said, free 180pt inspect, fluid top offs, car washed and food. And pretty significant discounts on all 'boutique' items.....shirts, plate frames, etc.
They do this every quarter.

svandamme 04-21-2012 01:34 PM

Jags must have a completely different following in the US then they have here..
Here they typically are elder folks who at some point decided they stopped caring about the car itself, but they just wanted some thing more "elegant" to sit in.

I don't think i've ever seen a modern day jag at speed.. ever.

HHI944 04-21-2012 01:38 PM

Then you should come on down to the lowcountry next time you're in the states. Mine has seen the top side of 120nph a few times.......even still, they do tend to give off that old man image. They are very capable cars though and surprisingly nimble.
