you sure she wasn't saying Dumbass with a freaky deaky dutch accent?
Dumb in dutch is Dom, which is close in pronounciation to Thom

:D

Thanks. I was pretty sure my guess was wrong. That's why I asked.

Here in Oklahoma we have a lot of places with Native American names. On occasion we have customers call from out of state and ask for an aerial map of parts of Pottawatomie county. It is funny hearing them try to pronounce it.

Flemish is possibly the most funny sounding language in Europe. Particularly the sounds that mimic an old chain smoker with a bad case of emphysema trying to cough up yellow-greenish mucus. :D

flatbutt 08-25-2009 12:09 PM

patience lads, I'm on the road just now. I'll give you sumthin' later.

svandamme 08-25-2009 12:13 PM

Livi, Flemish and Dutch aren't the same, Flemish is a dialect, it's much more softer then Dutch, which i think is what you're talking about... Dutch does use quite harsh sounds, the CH and GHHH and ARGH like sounds...

Flemish is more soft, mor mumbled then Dutch, at least the Flemish where i'm from.. it's actually not that different from Swedish if you go by ear.. some words are actually pretty identicall

Do you understand? = Verstoa je t? in flemish, which in Swedish is similar, right?

Verstoa in flemish is pronounced exactly like in swedish.. just a bit faster
In dutch it would be "beGGGRijp je het"

livi 08-25-2009 12:27 PM

I see. You are right, I was referring to Dutch.

Jag förstår precis vad du menar min vän! :)

svandamme 08-25-2009 12:40 PM

livi 08-25-2009 12:48 PM

Great, Stijn!

Ha, ha - yes Rick. Mini van. :D

Or more like 'my friend' actually.

Yes, exactly Geronimo.

slodave 08-25-2009 01:57 PM

Like, gag me with a spoon. Fer sure.

livi 08-25-2009 02:16 PM

Whats that you´re doing with a spoon, Dave? Nothing of a kinky nature I assume.

svandamme 08-25-2009 02:33 PM

i'm bored... want to work on my shower , but can't because it's 11h31 and i'm sure my neigbours wouldn't appreciate me banging hammers, sawing wood and what not...
(it's a row house)..
It's a pain in the ass, my natural biorhythm when off work, during vacation always turns me into a night owl...

I think might require some light drinking tonight

livi 08-25-2009 03:02 PM

I could do with some heavy drinking right now. Another night shift. Among all the little ones, we just received a 17 year old guy with chest pains. I was occupied in the delivery room with a newborn that refused to start breathing, so I just told one of the nurses on the phone that I would require an ECG. Five minutes later she comes running, ECG out-print in her hand, shouting it looks bad. She hands me the print and sure enough it looks like a serious heart attack - but wait a minute. Looking closer I noticed the suspicious signs of wrongly attached ECG cords. I told her to go back and do it all over again. She gave me a suspicious look and left. Another five minutes and she is back, now with a completely normal reading.
