Morning guys!!
Separated tranny and engine yesterday, removed some sheetmetal. Head temp sensor is giving me stress though, it's screwed in very tightly (or has become so over the years) and its hex bolt portion is not accesible with an ordinary spanner.... Not without damaging the fins anyway.... Tonight I'm adapting a ringspanner so it goes over the wire of the sensor and over the hex portion.... (a bit like a crows foot spanner) It'll come out, trust me.... |
can't you just leave the sensor, and just take the heads off first?
|
the sensor wire passes through the sheetmetal through a rubber grommet and on the other end is the connector that is attached to a metal bracket (which was attached on the intake runner on the left side).
The proper and quickest way would be to unscrew the sensor. Otherwise I'll be stuck with the same problem later.... and the cylinderhead and sheetmetal would have to stay together until I get the sensor out. (or I'd have to take the bracket in which the connector is fixed, apart... and I don't want to do that... too much hassle) |
in the Bentley manual it says that you have to remove some levers from the underside of the tranny (also to disconnect clutch of course). I didn't do that cause I didn't deem it necessary...
Turns out it damn well is... in order to seperate tranny from engine.... Luckily you can work your way around that by removing the startmotor and unscrewing the 9 allen bolts that go into the flywheel.... otherwise I would be fuched,....proper fuched... |
Ok guys news on the car front... the 951 is 3 hours away and the owner is in another state right now so I just have to go look at it where it sits... Eff that... If I can't drive.... I can't buy....
|
Morning, guys.
