Thanks for catching me up to 2012, tweeze. I am frequently behind the times.
I hope CA stays right where it is. In less than 3 years, my wife and I will be living there full-time. :) |
Not stalking. Just a good memory. ;)

The ocean at San Diego is some kinda cold. When I was at the Porsche Parade in San Diego a few years ago we got to go across the bridge to the Navy or Marine base and play on their private beach. No cigarette butts, no broken glass and no mass of humanity. I looked at the waves and thought a dip might be fun. I stuck my foot in the water and QUICKLY pulled it out. Yikes that was cold. Ain't no way I am swimming in that water.
The beach was beautiful. Heck all of San Diego is wonderful. Where else on the planet can you hold a fancy dinner on the deck of an air craft carrier at night for a thousand friends. |
My son surfs in that ocean, but mostly around the Huntington Beach area. Of course, he uses wet suits.
We used to live on the east coast of FL. Warm water. Not too bad. I lived in San Diego some during my Navy days. Not too bad, either. |
I would move to San Diego in a heartbeat if I thought I could maintain the lifestyle I have now but I don't see it. I love the ocean. Love the San Diego feel. I use a wetsuit a majority of the time when I surf. The only time I didn't was in Hawaii, which is somewhere I would love to live too. Just not rich enough. :)

The last time I was in Hawaii we went to Bellows AFS. We went swimming in the ocean. It is always a shock just how salty the ocean is. That is a great place. When we lived there in the 60s we would rent a cabin right on the beach for a week. I can remember getting up on Christmas morning and opening presents and then running down to the ocean to swim.

I haven't been back to Hawaii since I was in the service, eons ago. Lately, I've been thinking a lot about taking my wife over there for a vacation.
We got lucky with the housing crash. Our place in DC has been paid off for a while, and we had saved up a pretty good amount for a home purchase. Our son lives there and urged us to retire there. When SoCal prices and interest rates tanked, we were able to jump. Usually we're not ready when opportunity knocks. This was our once-in-a-lifetime exception. |
Morning all. Tgif! Off to go fight with a computer that needs some special butt kicking.

There's a bit more in there now. A local convenience store tried getting into craft beer and it didn't work so they marked it all half off.
