2030h here, lazy tv night, tomorrow back to work..

nynor 01-31-2010 01:02 PM

hey guys. i think i am going to stretch the legs on the 951.

edit:

just got back. fun stuff. i also took her around to the wash to get the salt off. now ingrid is tucked back in the garage with the battery disconnected. its almost warm enough to tempt me to ride jezebel. but there are some seriously wet areas and standing islands of sand and salt on the roads.

Rick V 01-31-2010 02:27 PM

rub it in why don't ya.
I had fun, was driving behind my son, who was drifting and doing donuts going down the road, he did really good for about a mile, then the Volvo 940 wagon backed itself in the ditch. so he had to get the old man to yank him out of the ditch. :)

nynor 01-31-2010 02:34 PM

LOL!

no tragedies for me. i did hit the ton for a bit, going UP parleys canyon. i think ingrid needs new tires: autocross has been bad for the street tires. i bought a set of new wheels last winter, with race rubber and a spare set of tires, but didn't get to use them last summer due to working the night shift.

day shift starts this week, so autocross and DE at miller motorsport park are on the menu.

Nice, Looks like it will be April till I get to play with Lanna. this latest foot of snow, and the arctic air on top of it is gonna be here for a while and they are calling for another storm next weekend. Good thing I really like driving Peggy

nynor 01-31-2010 02:49 PM

well, we got snow last night, and it was snowing at the top of parleys! i got a little nervous when i saw the snow and the exit was nearly blanketed. i drove home pretty fast!

I can imagine. When I used to have the 87S I drove it in the snow a few times, it did remarkably well.

This sucks. I might as well live in Chicago. :(

Rick V 01-31-2010 02:58 PM

DC, Chicago, is there much of a difference? Jim when you gonna sell me the 73?

Jim Richards 01-31-2010 03:08 PM

Send me some money. :D

Rick V 01-31-2010 03:11 PM

this is the first year in about eight that i haven't driven a 944 year round. then again, i always have the snow wheels on it!

Rick V 01-31-2010 03:24 PM

Well a 951 is a dog of a different color. I would be a tad leery of that in snow

nynor 01-31-2010 03:29 PM

my '83 944 was a champ in the snow, seriously, with the snow tires. i'd pass SUV's that were spinning out going uphill.

the 951, even with snow tires, is not as good. it's ok, but not great.

i've always had rear wheel drive cars, so i am used to it, i guess. my first two cars were '66 mustangs, and they sucked in the snow. period.

Good evening gents.

My wife was getting cranky after three days stuck at home. We went out to eat lunch and see how bad the roads were. The roads should be OK in the morning, just lots of black ice.

We went over to my dads house and I shoveled some more snow & ice.

Rick V 01-31-2010 03:46 PM

Glen, I know exactly how your wife feels, after being layed up inside for a few days it was great to get out today. I am almost looking forward to going to work tomorrow

porsche4life 01-31-2010 04:22 PM

Glen your wifes car is AWD... Whats been keeping yall inside? Its been business as normal for me in the Corolla and its just FWD...

I fear this will stick here too guys... Its still really slick... We may not have school tomorrow... Campus has lots of slopes and it gets dangerous to walk on when its this slick...

porsche4life 01-31-2010 05:32 PM

99% of the time when we go anywhere, we go in my El Camino. Only if we have another passenger or two do we go in her car. The Elky gets around in the snow and ice just fine. I am not worried about my driving in slick conditions. I am worried about the other idiots on the road. I stay off the icy roads whenever I can. We had plenty of food and beer and DVDs so we did not NEED to go anywhere.
