I won't convert, but I like this challenge and it can help me out a little in the Mac arena.

OS X is based off the BSD (Berkeley Software Distribution) flavor of Unix.

I am mostly in the Windows environment these days, so this also helps dust off the cobwebs with my real passion - Linux and Unix. :) A lot of the commands are the same.

Edit: I've worked with SCO Unix, FreeBSD, Open BSD, Redhat/Fedora Linux, Slackware Linux (my favorite), Ubuntu and e-smith Linux (The worst).

Okay so I am running Ubuntu on my old slow desktop, any recommendations? I mean other than hanging it from a tree and sighting in a scope

I don't remember but I know the ram is less than a gig.
