Only to have room for a full size floor lift. Just a dream.

Outback Porsche 06-11-2013 01:18 PM

It would be easier to put in a pit.

G'day ladies and gents.

Glen, I'm sure you've thought about some sort of combination fraidy hole mechanics pit with just enough lift to get the wheels of the ground, or maybe some kind of scissor that the cars park on and iunder is a fraidy hole, but can drop down from under the car.

Oh, I have thought of that as well. Around here if you ask for a permit for a pit to work on cars it is denied because bad fumes can accumulate and the groundwater might be contaminated. So you have to call it a storm shelter. Then it is approved post haste.

A pit is OK for doing oil changes but I really want to get the weight off of the wheels most of the time. Constant trips in and out of a pit gets old real fast.

Bleh, time to get sorted for w**k :(

Huh. Very good arguments for a lift. But I agree with Jeff, lots of work. I guess you just have to weigh the pros and cons. Sounds like you are set on raising the roof. :)

Getting some FREE terraforming on my yard. Landscaper asked if they could take down part of my stockade fence to get his Bobcat in to do dirt work and bring some big boulders in to terrace the back yard of the neighbor behind me. For letting him do it, he is going to move some dirt around for better drainage and scatter the grass they took off the neighbors yard.

One of his helpers has already put some left over flowers in the big pots on my patio. Haven't been able to do anything to my yard for almost a year now.

Yea, I just need to figure out how to make that work. I want something like in a James Bond flick that drops the car down into a cellar

70SATMan 06-11-2013 01:49 PM

Ahh, I though you were looking for room for a four post so you could keep a car lifted for storage too.

I want lotsa toys. :D

Reality will likely be something like a small scissor lift and be done.

RKDinOKC 06-11-2013 02:05 PM

Got my scatter spoon at a pawn shop real cheap and way before the govment got in the restriction bidnez. It's probably hot.

RKDinOKC 06-11-2013 02:06 PM

One of the 928 guys got a small scissor lift with wheels so he could move the car around while up off the ground. Didn't look like there was room to access much between the wheels front to back. I would sure like to have a two or 4 post lift in my garage, but not enough room to do anything once the car is off the ground. I have to pull a car out just to wax the other one.

GH85Carrera 06-11-2013 02:14 PM

I want something this setup!

Just the lift. I don't want a red targa racecar.

i've been completely obsessed with a 12 guage, but i think i can get a double barrel 20 gauge, NICKEL PLATED!!!!, for under $400. it seems that difference in cartridge loads is minor....

That won't be me. I have six shotguns and they are all 12ga for a reason. I can use the lite loads for skeet and whatnot and I can use the heavy loads for punching through walls and taking out critical car front ends.
12 or 10 or go home.

nynor 06-11-2013 02:52 PM

ah, the voice of reason. i can also get a 10ga pretty cheap. that seems like a lot of gun for shooting at grouse, however.

Rick V 06-11-2013 02:55 PM

The 12 is IMO the best all around ga. for a scatter gun, and shells can be had anywhere. You may never need that much thump but I would rather have it and not need it.
Come break in my house one evening and you will see the wrong end of one. 00 mag buck btw. :)

nynor 06-11-2013 03:21 PM

holy cow. you can piece together a palmetto state armory ar15 for about $700, new, from their webpage and the parts are all in stock.

okay, i am over my 20 gauge madness. thanks, rick.

Rick V 06-11-2013 03:24 PM

I have a buddy selling a colt ar 20in h-bar if you really have to have one.
You'll thank me later for talking you down from the 20ga ledge
