OK, we'll have to see how we coordinate this.

I don't mind making the drive over sunday afternoon and G said he would come as well. I'd like to see your P-car.

where did you get that map? I wouldn't mind putting it into my Garmin.

I hope so!

Back before modern all season tires I would mount snow tires on the back of the El Camino for winter. It took me 4 winters to wear them out. We did not have any snow in that time, just some ice storms. I called them my snow repellant tires.

You can't beat bone stock for reliability and low cost. More HP just means more money. My 911 is 99.9% stock. It has 132,000 miles and I will drive it to Chicago this summer. I figure if I get a real bad case of HP need I will just sell my car and buy a newer STOCK 911 with more HP.

you guys are really bumming me out. but, it is good to be told the truth.

i'll start stripping the interior today.

I don't understand why a bone stock 951 with only the K26-6 turbo would be losing head gaskets like you described!?!

I hope the Koni's are the yellows with adjustable ride height and rebound adjustment? You will be able to spend more time driving than fixing.

If it were me...

First make sure all the motor bits are in proper running order ie., reliability.

Then spend money on the suspension. 180-410 Progressive Front and 30 or 31mm rear torsion bars. And Weltmeister adjustable sway bars front and rear. Not the sway bars with holes, but the ones with the sliding collars. This is less spring than most use for track but really all that is necessary and you don't have to worry about the rear breaking because the mounts weren't really designed to carry the weight of the car on the helper springs.

I started with the turboS so there where some advantages like bigger brakes and and the cam, external oil cooler, and turbo for 250 hp instead of 230 AND the LSD rear diff.

After the suspension and possibly larger brakes (if you have a problem with brake fade). Then I would look at reliable hp upgrades.

its only lost the one, since i owned it, and it didn't exactly blow the gasket. it started leaking coolant from one or two of the head studs. i think the head was over-torqued. its been all good for three years now, with some pretty hard abuse. the bottom end was renewed before i bought it and i checked it last fall, when my wife cracked the oil pan hitting a piece of cement and it looked new still.

$50 for the chips and LBE seemed too good to miss.

the other two head gaskets i've done were on my '83 and my friend's '85.5

what is that skeletal pain called where the ribs meet the sternum. i've got some going on and it hurts like hell!

GH85Carrera 03-18-2010 02:10 PM

Hopefully it's not a heart attack. !!

nynor 03-18-2010 02:26 PM

nah, i get this pain occasionally, thanks to a really serious motorcycle accident. if i press on it or move my torso to a different position, it makes the pain better or worse.

RKDinOKC 03-18-2010 02:52 PM

If they are autothority chips I wouldn't put em in. When I bought my second 951 it had an autothority MAF and the chips for it. The thing ran horribly lean at 3/4 throttle. Full throttle was Rich. Not what I would call good.

nynor 03-18-2010 03:01 PM

i think what i will do is get it all together, exhaust and chips and schedule some dyno time and see what it is actually doing. putting it back to stock is not a big deal. i certainly don't want to grenade the engine.

I get sharp pains that suddenly pop up when i have acute stress, they'll last till things mellow out a bit... It's like a sudden cramp that lasts half a second.

First time i got one, it scared me silly, went straight to the doc, got an ecg that came up clean..
Doc says stress, and iKve since come to recognise it as such, and i listen to those signals.

Had em earlier this week, when the troubles, with my sister got thrown on my plate..

nynor 03-18-2010 03:31 PM

stress is insidious.

Stress turns nice people into people like me.

Schumi 03-18-2010 05:13 PM
