so....what turbo you running on your 951?

just the 26/6. but it has a cheater impeller on the cold side. i wish it spooled faster, for sure.

i forgot to mention that i fixed the overboost problem with ingrid. i found that the hose clamp at the wastegate was loose, mainly because whoever put it on last time used one of those worm-screw style clamps. so, i cut the end off of the hose to make sure there wasn't a split as well and put a proper fuel injection hose style clamp on there.

i think the boost was actually reaching the neighborhood of 18PSI.

also, the acceleration seems better, smoother. i think the wastegate may have been fluttering, thus messing with the boost.

Hi guys!

Outback Porsche 07-28-2013 04:58 AM

Mmmm, giving the old port barrel a hiding. ;)

This idea of not going to work in the morning is fantastic.

Outback Porsche 07-28-2013 04:59 AM

F1 about to start :)

azzarule 07-28-2013 05:28 AM

Morning all, thanks for the birthday wishes. Going out for brekkie with Rick, Beth, Seahawk, Bec and my boys and their young ones. See you'all later, .

No spoilers on the F1 Jeff, going to watch it later when we get home as we have recorded it. Then watching the Brumbies game, to see how they went, so no spoilers anyone who knows what I am talking about!!!

Outback Porsche 07-28-2013 05:36 AM

Have fun y'all ;)

Outback Porsche 07-28-2013 05:37 AM

I'll keep giving my old port barrel some attention.

Outback Porsche 07-28-2013 05:37 AM

It's cold :(

Outback Porsche 07-28-2013 05:48 AM

Grosjean, ya bonehead!

Jim Richards 07-28-2013 05:49 AM

Not here. It's a pleasant 75F

Outback Porsche 07-28-2013 05:54 AM

A balmy 52F here.

Had a nice winters day today, max was 79F. Such a nice day I decided to give the fur kid a bath, he cried all the way through it. :(

Outback Porsche 07-28-2013 06:14 AM

The port is warming me up.

GH85Carrera 07-28-2013 06:20 AM

Ya, the offer I made Lee was taking the service into account. I think I will DIY it, doesn't look as complicated as a 944. Just go slow and triple check everything. I was planning on pulling the carb apart and go through everything. Again, not that much Voodoo. He is going to try selling it locally for a bit and see if he gets any bites, as it will be a few weeks before I could sneak out there to take possession of it anyways. So right now its a waiting game. I feel like at what I offered I can fix it and still not be upside down in it if I want to flip it come spring time. I've never been into the monsters, but I fell in love with that one. We'll see what happens. I really wasn't looking to buy anything for a few more months truthfully.

The belts are easy as hell, just triple check the alignment notches and the tension....head clearance is virtually non-existent.
Valves are a little more in depth, but still not the crazy difficult job people make it out to be. They also don't go out of spec much. My last valve check, I swapped one closer, but it was still technically in spec.
And leave the belt covers off.....makes it easy to do a quick pre-ride tension check and the belts are part of the allure of these bikes.

Great race.

Made it back to Scottsvegas, in truly uneventful fashion.
Had a great time at Seahawks, threw a lot of lead down range, missed a lot of clays, and just generally had a great time.
Ir was great to meet Azzy and her brood, and yes she is just like you would expect, tons of fun.
Thanks again to Seahawk for the hospitality, it was a well needed break.
Time to clean some guns and fix one.
