I remember the days of driving my 60 Bug. The monster 36 HP got 36 MPG. With a 10 gallon tank I could drive for two or three weeks on a tank of gas that cost 3 bucks. I would pull into the station and a friendly man came out and pumped the gas, cleaned the windshield and checked the oil and would check the tire pressure. He would ask about the family (we all bought gas there) and thank me for the business. I remember the first time I had to pay five whole dollars to fill up I was outraged.

That bug had no gas gauge at all. It was not broken, it was an option for that model and the car was ordered with no gauge. I just drove until I ran out of gas, and then flipped on the reserve which was a gallon. It was REAL important to remember to flip the lever back to normal when I got filled up.

I bought a set of 4 tires mounted and balanced for 30 bucks. They were recap tires. With 36 HP and a top speed of 70 with a tail wind that was plenty of tires for the car.

Good Friday Morning everyone.

Except you Jeff. You get a good evening. ;)

I "get" to go to a wedding this evening. The daughter of a friend is finally getting married. She had her baby last year. She is getting married to the father of the baby so there is that.

It will be nice to see some of their family. I knew them all.

It does not seem possible that the bride is as old as she is. I remember my friend showing me ultrasound pictures of her when she was -3 months old. That seems like just a couple of years ago.

I'm going to a wedding tomorrow too... I'm still questioning my coworkers logic behind having an outdoor wedding in october... Looks like it will be nicer than today, but still going to be a wee bit chilly!

GH85Carrera 10-18-2013 08:27 AM

The wedding I am going to is tonight. We have to rush home and I suspect Mrs Carrera will not let me wear jeans & t-shirt. :(

The wedding is at 6:30 so not much time to get ready.

Porsche-poor 10-18-2013 10:42 AM

I have not been to a good wake er wedding in a long time.

I was playing with one of our mapping software packages and I produced this.

If I was trying harder I could have hit a few more states. When I was in Hershey PA it would not have been far to get to NJ & MD. We were within a few miles of ID & WY on our trip to Utah. It does not look like I will knock off any new states until 2016.

I will make it a point to get to Maine NH, MA & CT when I come to see Pete in 2016. There are lots of little tiny states I can knock off on that trip.

Next year the big goal is to drive my 911 on Laguna Seca.

I'm all good... Don't need to snag anyone tonight! ;)

Several of my coworkers from down south (houston and Baton Rouge) are liable to be mighty cold, they forgot to bring jackets! ;)

nynor 10-18-2013 03:55 PM

how is tweeze doing?

porsche4life 10-18-2013 04:13 PM

She's good. Had a very busy week. She had presentations in SLC, Denver, and Yuma this week. I don't think she is doing anything but sleeping this weekend.

nynor 10-18-2013 04:17 PM

hmm..... she was in SLC..... i am going to continue trying to not be offended.....

HHI944 10-18-2013 05:17 PM

Holy crap that little airboat is crazy!
I'm definitely going back to dual rudders.
Dave was right, low speed turning sucked on the single. ..

The worst part of our SoCal work-cations is the last 24 hours. We always dread leaving this place. :(

Thankfully, we're back out here in early December. :)

Outback Porsche 10-18-2013 05:45 PM

Morning y'all.

A well deserved sleep in followed up with croissants and coffee.

Well I suppose I'd better go se how we'll a job the spa is doing cleaning and filling itself. Methinks its probably slacking off and needs a hand.

HHI944 10-18-2013 05:58 PM

Those damn Spas are always slacking off.....

GH85Carrera 10-18-2013 08:05 PM

We are back from the wedding. It was nice to see so many long time friends. The wedding was nice too. Free food and beer was just the icing on the cake. And the cake was good too.

Don't get offended. :( I was there for two days and both days I had huge presentations both days. Salt Lake Regional, Pioneer Valley, Jordan Valley, and Davis. And I didn't have a car. I got between four and three hours of sleep both nights. This week was horrendous. Then I flew to Denver to sleep in a hotel bed for four hours and then to wake up and drive two hours to present at Pikes Peak the next day. And then flew into Phoenix, sleeping at my house for four hours to wake up and drive three hours to Yuma to present yesterday. I fell asleep after hanging up with Sidney at 630 in the evening yesterday and didn't wake up until 730 am this morning. Looking forward to being at my home office this week. :)
