My son just informed me it was 46C at midday today. It's got real sticky too, I reckon the humidity must be around 10% - sweating like a pig here :(

RKDinOKC 01-02-2014 03:18 AM

If the Humaditty is only 10% ya think yo sweat be vaporatin fast as ya kin make it. They say it ain't the heat it's the humaditty.

Outback Porsche 01-02-2014 03:22 AM

Ya'd think so but no :(

It did get up to 13% later this arvo.

maybe Things That Bounce Thursday will help..

That top must be held on with some kind of adhesive.

I was roaming the streets at about 2pm and I suppose when you think about it, it was just freaking hot until I went inside a shop. Then I was hot and sweaty - Most shops run swamp coolers (evap A/C) and that bumps up the humidity. Only the big department stores (not that there's many of them here), shopping malls (we got a couple of them), and gov buildings (we got them up the kazooba) run refrig A/C.

At home I have both a swampy and number of splits. I prefer the splits and will probably eventually swap out the swampy for a big cartridge unit when the impeller eventually rots away.

Things that bounce help a lot :D

She's very talented btw.

morning Jeff.

Baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies yesterday afternoon. Set them out on the counter to cool. Came back to the kitchen 15 minutes later, they were ALL gone except one lonely chocolate chip a few small crumbs. Mom says she didn't know there were any cookies.

We had a swamp cooler for about 2 weeks when I was a kid. Dad didn't like it and gave it to a neighbor. Later we got central A/C. Was sure glad remember many hot sweaty sleepless nights with a fan blowing on me before A/C.

Used to have my brother with Multiple Sclerosis living with me. If the temp got above 70°F he would start sweating and lose is ability to move. I guess because his room was the only bedroom on the west side of the house, and the farthest from the mechanicals closet, it would stay 5 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. I tried one of those vent booster fans that runs when it sees cooler air in the duct than in the room and that only dropped it about 1°F. Ended up putting a window A/C in his room.

Kinda parr for the course since he passed the trees and shrubbery shading that room of the house have grown up and I've had to replace the HVAC in the house. Now the room stays the same 72°F as the rest of the house without the window A/C.

Haha, she must have decided you're on a diet ;)

Tonight's extravaganza was red duck curry on black rice - yummo too.

Mom has Alzheimer's. She probably snuck a cookie, ate it, forgot she ate it snuck another ate it, forgot and repeated until they were all gone. I've had to hide all the cookies, crackers, chips, bread, and candy or she eats em up and then won't eat meals. I can leave healthy snacks out and she won't touch em and even goes so far to comment that we don't have a thing in the house to eat. The only safe sweet seems to be pie. If she finds the package of cookies she likes that I keep for her they are gone within a few hours.

Oh, man...Now I'm gonna have to fix a big fat omelet with sausage, bacon, ham, cheese, tomato, peppers, onions, and mushrooms, with a waffle for breakfast.

Outback Porsche 01-02-2014 04:13 AM

Hehe, where's the like button.

Back in the 60s swamp coolers wer common around here. Both sets of grandparents had them. I did not live in a house with air conditioning until I was in high school. When we lived in San Marcos, Texas and I was in 2nd grade the living room was the one room that had air conditioning. The bedrooms were all upstairs. I never did go to a school that had air conditioning.

I will never live in a house without AC and I will never own a street car with no AC. I doubt I will ever have a track whore car so likely no cars at all without AC.

For some reason it feels like Monday. A day off in the middle of the week is weird, but I could get used to it. ;)

Porsche-poor 01-02-2014 06:33 AM

Morning all. Yep feels like Monday.

Outback Porsche 01-02-2014 06:36 AM

I don't go back to work until Monday. I'd rather win $30M lotto on Saturday and not bother. I suppose it means buying a ticket first....not really ever a high priority.

Swampy's are still popular around here. They are cheap to run and most of the time they work okay with the low humidity.
