Great pictures.

Flieger 06-17-2014 09:15 PM

These are not go-pro shots. They were me taking pictures blindly while I stuck my hand out the window and over the roof or to the rear. So forgive their imperfections.

Talked to my wheel guy. Says the custom barrels are in. He's still got to measure, program the drill and drill the holes for mounting the centers, then polish the barrels and put them together. Sure is taking a Looong time.

We are up extra early to get staged for the Hurst Castle tour. We will be eating lunch there.

It should be cool.

GH85Carrera 06-18-2014 04:59 AM

Max, it is cool how you can meet some great folks. I hope you got Peter Porsche to sign something for you.

He did say last night that next year if he is feeling good like he does now he will attend the 60th Parade and bring his son and his brother.

I ate dinner with Norbet Singer in Charlotte, NC. I would love to listen to stories from him for many more hours.

Flieger 06-18-2014 08:05 AM

I didn't have a sharpie, but I figured a photo with him was better than having an autograph.

Jim Richards 06-18-2014 08:50 AM

You figured right, Max.

Great pics, guys. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the rest of the Parade. SmileWavy

Are are about to board the bus for the Hurst Castle tour. They must have sold a lot of those shifters to afford this place.

Jim Richards 06-18-2014 10:36 AM

Let us know if they have dual gates to enter the castle. ;)

Today is Wednesday and Thursday all in one and only cause I'm off this Friday.

Rick V 06-18-2014 03:37 PM

Evening Y'all,
Max you take better pictures by mistake as I do trying.
I had my meeting today with management, armed with printouts of The Code of Va., and they are back on their heels.
For some reason they think all mechanics are dumb and don't do our homework. That is kind of part of my job, I am sorta good at it.

RKDinOKC 06-18-2014 03:41 PM

So they are removing the garnishment?

Porsche-poor 06-18-2014 03:45 PM

Sounds to me like the parts guy is the one who should be up to his ears in crapola not you.

Rick V 06-18-2014 03:57 PM

They have yet to put the garnishment into place, and after today they are going to realize it is against the law to do it without my signature, and that they will never see, and it is against the law to fire me because I refuse to let them take money from me. The parts guy has the same protection. He is just very lucky I am covering him. The company is trying to find a way to save face. I suspect I will be gone before too much longer.

Where some people think responsibility lies just amazes me.

Several years ago a repair man was killed on a well site when the site exploded. He was found with a cigarette lighter clutched in his had. It was obvious he was attempting to light something assumed to be a cigarette as he was a known smoker and that caused the explosion. These types of sites often have leaks that can put odorless natural gas in the air. The site was well marked for both fire and explosion and company rules are NO sparks, flames, or smoking on well sites. The family of the guy sued the company the guy worked for AND every company that any of their equipment on the site and got millions of dollars. To me, that is just wrong.

Kimray was one of the few companies that didn't settle and pay the family to keep the case out of court. There was no way Kimray's equipment would have caused any sort of fire or explosion and the founder refused to pay anything to the family on principle. The case was in court for 10 years. It ended when I made an animated video showing what the Kimray equipment did and how it operated showing no way for it's failure to cause anything that might lead to an explosion. In fact, even though may companies paid the family it was determined the drill pipe casing underground BEFORE any of the site equipment had been leaking causing the explosion when the guy flicked his lighter.

i feel sorry for his family, but damn, the guy did try to start a fire in an area with a known gas leak with caution don't do it signs all around him. I don't see where anyone is responsible except the guy himself. That's like saying gun and ammo manufacturers are responsible for people dying from gunshot wounds, uh, oh wait...

Porsche-poor 06-18-2014 03:58 PM

that sucks

Rick V 06-18-2014 04:04 PM

Isn't that kind of like someone suing Smith and Wesson because they made the gun that their gang banger kid got shot with?

GH85Carrera 06-18-2014 04:40 PM

Afternoon folks.

Back from the Hurst castle. It is just crazy how the super rich had it. Hurst was making 50K a DAY back in the 20s and 30s. That has to be like 200K a day in today's money. I am too lazy to look it up.

Just google the place and see pictures way better than I could take. Over the top is an understatement.

We are off to the Rally banquet at the fairgrounds tonight. We will not stick around for the door prizes. There are a million classes and it takes too long. The food is usually good and since it is a buffet I can pig out.
