I'll bring some rain along with me in one of our suitcases.

No doubt both locations would appreciate it.

Back in the early 90's a friend of mine put together a system for the NOAA to collect, manage and do statistical analysis and graphic of all the atmospheric data they collect. It worked wonderfully but they got all pissed off and didn't like when they found he had used 2 off the shelf programs. Seems they wanted to just pay him for his time and once it worked make copies to run all over the world. With what he had set up they would have to buy two programs for each new installation. He said that if he had programed a custom system and found out they were planning to distribute it all over the world without paying he would have been really pissed so it served them right.

Oh no you are covered with that H2O2 stuff!

I'm dry now. The van ride back was pretty fun, 8 guys drenched in saltwater, sweat and gunpowder in an enclosed space is less than pleasant

Friend of mine took a coworker bird hunting. The friend loves quail and dove hunting. Even trains his own dogs. Asked him how they did and his response was "Too busy duckin' to shoot!" Evidently the other guy didn't know how to handle a gun very well. At least they didn't pull a Chaney.

So I wanted a case for my new phone but I wanted one that was like a wallet and with it being so new the only options were from the manufacturer so I bit the bullet and bought it.
It has a little window in it so I can see some of the screen and holy crap it is cool. When I open the case it brings up the phone, when I close it the screen darks out and it puts some f the screen controls into the window of the case.
There is something in the case that communicates with the phone, but I can't figure it out, it just feels like padded leather to me

Thank god, every one in this course has solid spoon safety. If they didn't, they would have been booted from the course. While a lot of the course is fun, the topics are very friggin serious.

A little tiny midget inside the phone. I iPad case has maggots in it that tells the iPad it is open or closed.

Rick V 10-01-2015 04:16 PM

Not sure but I tried using my checkbook as the case and it did nothing, so I am doubting the proximity sensor.
I just call it my magic case

RKDinOKC 10-01-2015 04:55 PM

The iPad has magnets in the factory case cover that hold it onto the iPad so figure it pretty much has magnets that tell it the case is closed and hold it closed as well.

Rick V 10-01-2015 05:22 PM

Dude, mine is frigging magic, just like them beans of Lieutenant Dan's legs

RKDinOKC 10-01-2015 05:24 PM

okay, it's magic

Rick V 10-01-2015 05:31 PM

Uh huh.
Magic

Rick V 10-01-2015 05:32 PM

Wheeeee, time for more practicals, gear maintenance and out brief tomorrow.....then death by PowerPoint on Saturday and Sunday.

RKDinOKC 10-01-2015 07:13 PM

Sounds like a vacation. Do you get extra points for blowing up the powerpoint?

HHI944 10-01-2015 07:24 PM

No, I'm pretty sure you get yelled at by some coast guard weenie if anything at all blows up during the PowerPoint. The amount of caffeine I'm going to require Saturday and Sunday will likely be near fatal.
