I'll go $911 and not a dime more! ;)

Friend showed up in his brand spanking new Mazda 3 5 door today. Shows he got 43 mpg driving up from Austin. Hope he puts a LOT of miles on it going back and forth between Austin and OKC to spend time with his Dad with Alzheimer's.

That Sky Activ thing that Mazda is selling is interesting. It's a 14:1 compression motor but the domed piston has this little pocket at the top. It uses cylinder injection so puts the fuel and spark in that top pocket to keep it from pre-igniting. They also use variable intake timing to put less charge in the cylinder when not under load to effectively lower the compression and increase gas mileage.

When I got the GTS was looking at BoxsterS or Carrera Cabs with PASM. So though the SC has its' charm not really interested in getting in on the bidding war.

As I've said before selling a nice car, including a friends car I put very minimal adds on Autotrader and Cars.com with my own web page up with Full information and pictures of the car. They don't let you put a link in the ads, but was able to put a web address for the details. The only calls I got were the buyer.

The exception to that rule was with the Range Rover. I put up the web page, then put it on craigslist for a couple of weeks before listing on autotrader or cars.com. I got 4 local offers from the craigslist ad, 2 low ballers, 1 guy that never showed up and the asking price buyer. Sold before listing on Autotrader/cars.com.

When my 90 944 Turbo motor blew after having the motor rebuilt and the builder didn't stand behind his shoddy work, I posted what happened and that I was done with the car on the rennlist 944 Turbo board. 5 people on the board offered me more than what I would have taken for the car.

Evening Y'all,
Lets see what is the bid up to? I bid 911.98 plus a slightly used blonde and she comes with a Mercedes.

HHI944 07-22-2015 04:31 PM

I bid one 2004 discovery with 182k that randomly catches fire

Rick V 07-22-2015 04:33 PM

No No No Joe, it converts into a self contained BBQ pit on wheels

RKDinOKC 07-22-2015 04:36 PM

It's all in the marketing! LOL

Just had an interesting phone call. Guy I used to work with has challenged me to a shooting match. 1K yards, looser buys the targets.
He is bringing a 308, I think I got him, that and I have shot with him before.

HHI944 07-22-2015 04:41 PM

I know a guy not to far from you that can hit 4" steel at 1000 with a 308.

RKDinOKC 07-22-2015 04:42 PM

So basically, if you go shooting with him, he will pay for the targets?

I like the satisfying clank of metal targets at a distance. Pow, clank, grin.

Rick V 07-22-2015 04:47 PM

We are going to be shooting at stationary clays

HHI944 07-22-2015 04:47 PM

I like steel for cqb training. The metal fragments coming back at you make it more interesting.
