She claims her plan was to relax for the first full year and do a lot of knitting. She has been knitting like crazy. Then she wants to get into a master gardener program and maybe help out at a vets office or work with helping animals somehow.

Sounds like a nice plan, Glen. The sitting part doesn't work for me...I've been sitting at a desk for many years. I try to move around as much as I can during the day. I usually prefer doing stuff.

If the weather is reasonable she takes the dogs for a walk.

We have weird dogs for walking. The male HATES with a passion a collar and leash. He is the only dog I have ever knows or even heard of that done not want to go on a walk. He just locks up and looks like a statue for a while. Eventually he unlocks enough to sniff around and then forgets he has a leash and will start walking.

The female loves to go, but for whatever reason she peters out in short order and has to be carried. She never limps and her heart checks out OK, she is just pooped out. She runs and plays just fine at home.

My wife has been retired over a year. I was worried she would gain 50 lbs and watch TV all day. She does watch a lot of TV...but started doing a crushing treadmill routine...she has lost weight and is likely in the best shape of her life. Could not keep her working out before. So, I can't complain. I have been running about 3 miles at night on the treadmill to try to catch up. Helped a lot, back to my fighting weight/condition.

Company I work for offered a buyout of $5000 and 2 months continued benefits. Over 100 of 800 employees took the buy out.

Friend of mine worked at Apple and thought it would be much more lucrative with some of the job offers he got. He left and only stayed working for a short time as those companies went under one by one. In all fairness it was during the dotcom crash thing. He has said it was the biggest mistake he's ever made.

I know what you mean about the job securty thing, have worked for the same company for 35 years. Worked for them 9 years part time before that. Guess it does make a difference since it is a family business.

So did you actually avoid Monday, or just put it off for a day?

RKDinOKC 01-19-2016 07:56 AM

Keep and extensive list of the things I've done for the company just in case they bring in some Bob's. Have given it to a couple of people that have asked just what it is i do. Gave a copy to one of my Nephew's kids. When he was in HS and mowing my yard he asked what I did. He had a LOT more respect for me after seeing the list.

One of they guys that worked for me a while kept logs of everything he did every day just in case. He never used it while he worked for me. He now works in Quality Control so he gets to keep logs on way more than himself.

RKDinOKC 01-19-2016 08:08 AM

Suggest you watch out for my brother Bob also. Well, unless you are into the UFO conspiracy thing.

Ubuntu and the Blue Avians’ Message Part 1

Get stuff like this almost every day.

I avoided paid work for work around the house. So no I didn't avoid Monday at all.

Dad was still pitching softball into his 70s. He quit (mostly) after he had his second hip replaced. We have a 6 year old that keeps him busy now and he still works part time to get out and about. Don't know what I will do when I retire. Probably spend my wife's money as she is a bit younger than I.

Been wanting to build one of these some day since I can't afford a full size.

Good Evening.

Hopefully got a tire fixed today. Slow leak, been losing 10psi over two weeks. Tire place couldn't find anything but some corrosion on the rim bead. Cleaned it, sanded it, and put some goop on it. Hope it's fixed. Local tire shop does this stuff for nuthin. Gave the guy that fixed it $10. Bet he remembers the bearded guy and the Porsche SUV.

The tires are supposed to be 35psi all round. Don't have TPMS on the Cayenne, but do have Air Suspension. When a tire gets down to 25psi an Air Suspension fault comes up. Air it back up and the fault goes away. The tires are so low profile it's difficult to see a low tire.

Evening Y'all,
Well people here are going off the deep end, they are calling for a MASSIVE snow storm friday, like not inches but feet. I spent a few mins and prepared, Peggy has a full tank.
I hate snow

I like snow just not on those terms.

GH85Carrera 01-19-2016 07:19 PM

Snow is only good on mountain tops to make snow pack.

Outback Porsche 01-19-2016 11:56 PM

I like ski resort snow. Is there another sort? Never seen it in person so it must be the only type of snow. I've seen pictures of other types of snow, but I think they musta been photoshoped. ;)

I'm waiting for the bonecracker...ho hum...

Over the hump, woohoo!

We're currently planning our next outback safari Birdsville via Innaminka, or maybe Innaminka via Birdsville, haven't decided.

This looks like a fun couple of days

Big Red Bash

The kids are over for dinner tomorrow and yesterday at lunch Nanna asked GD what she would like Grandad to cook her. Pizza was the ecstatic reply.

So while I was out this arvo for the bonecracker visit I stopped on the way home and did some hunting and gathering like real men do.

Got me some stuff to make the following;
1. The Hawaiian,
2. The Marinara,
3. The Aussie, and
4. The Accident

Who's coming over for a feed?
