I don't want to PARF this up but he even admitted he "got shellacked" in his own words.

We don't have a parliament in the USA, it is the Congress. The House is now controlled by the Repulicans, the Senate is still controlled by the Democrats. I suspect it will be two years of gridlock. No new spending bills but no reform. Politics as usual.

Did anyone really think Sniper was gone forever? The man this thread is named for even comes back on occasion.

That's what I meant, congres...
Political gridlock is something we know here in little ol' Belgium as well.
Election for a new government were held about four months ago. The elected parties that are supposed to form a government together have such different views and meanings that working together and leading our GD country is impossible.
All attempts to get them pointing in the same direction were futile.
Four months later, still no government....

Politics, same shyte everywhere....

(as long as we keep it civilised, we don't have to move to PARF, I guess..., can you imagine the mods moving this thread to PARF )

If they would just make me the king I could solve all the problems in no time.

RKDinOKC 11-04-2010 03:25 PM

Had lunch with a guy that has 8 928s. One is a 79 that only has 1500 miles on it.

porsche4life 11-04-2010 07:14 PM

So what you are telling us is that he is really messed up in the head? :D

RKDinOKC 11-04-2010 08:33 PM

One of them is a race car made from a 928 like you are building from a 924.

You getting the urge to have a street car that matches your race car? That's where he started.

slodave 11-04-2010 09:36 PM

The 911 is home for the night! Then back to the airport until Monday when I can pick it up. It's hard to drive two cars at once. Valve adjustment - done and sounds good. Oil change - done and it needed it. Smog check - done - good for two more years. Premuffler - back on and Steve Wong chip reinstalled.

I guess I had the urge to make a race car out of a street car. :)

Noah930 11-04-2010 10:03 PM

Someone needs the urge to buy some land for us in Nevada (or some other state with non-existant smog laws) so we can all register our cars there.

porsche4life 11-04-2010 10:32 PM

My family owns land in OK... A state with no smog laws at all... We don't even have yearly inspections.....

slodave 11-04-2010 10:36 PM

Honestly. It's not that big of a deal. Smog does suck here, but our cars do need routine maintenance to keep running like a top anyway. It's been three years since the last valve adjustment and I'm not sure they were tight enough. The engine is a lot quieter now. Oil has to be changed as well and it was overdue. I think I will start to change the oil every 12 months, maybe sooner if I keep up with AX and do them more frequently.

I just want the printout (I'll get it from TRE later, not going to explain) so I can compare with the last one. I swear the numbers look better this year from the glance I took. What really pisses me off is that the 911 is basically as clean as the Corolla and I'm still considered a gross polluter.

Schumi 11-04-2010 11:26 PM

When looking over my boxster's smog receipts from years past, I am pretty sure that when it was smogged in June the numbers were better than when it was smogged back in '04.

slodave 11-04-2010 11:37 PM

Is a valve adjustment needed on the Boxster? I thought most newer engines are always adjusting themselves.

Schumi 11-04-2010 11:54 PM

all the watercooler flat sixes are direct driven hydraulic lifters (like the 944), not rocker-armed like the air cooled motors. No adjustment needed.

slodave 11-04-2010 11:59 PM

Thanks. I don't know much about water cooled cars. I don't even know much about the 3.2. I knows what I knows and I'm tryin' to learn the rest. :)
