Off trying to arrange a drive in the CGT? :D

GH85Carrera 11-11-2017 03:07 PM

That is a 918. Million dollar plus vehicle. Nice guy. His new GT2 is ordered and will be made in a few months. He has 4800 miles the 918.

GH85Carrera 11-11-2017 03:11 PM

One of the members of the Tulsa region has a Carrera GT. He did not drive it. He drove his 911 GT3 RS. He was in front of me on the drive today. He would fly away in corners. Just wow.

GH85Carrera 11-12-2017 05:50 AM

Morning all. Ready for our drive home.

RKDinOKC 11-12-2017 11:45 AM

Isn't the 918 just a hybrid Carrera GT?

GH85Carrera 11-12-2017 12:26 PM

Back home. Car is washed and dried off ready for wax. Not a Brazilian, no hair to remove. Just Zymol. And leather treatment and interior cleanup.

RKDinOKC 11-12-2017 12:34 PM

Everone I know that goes to The Palooza really enjoys it.

There was a girl that lived two houses down that was my girlfriend when I was 4. Her family moved to Springdale, AR before I turned 5. We were pen pals exchanging letters two or three times a year until we graduated HS and her family moved again. Only really dated when we were 4. My family vacationed at a cabin and dock resort on White River every summer for 2 weeks trout fishing. Stopped to visit Nancy and her family in Springdale either going or coming. Her dad made donuts and owned a donut shop. Eureka Springs was between the two, Springdale and Rim Shoals where we went fishing.

CGT...918...don't all Porsches look alike? :D

Thanks for straightening me out, Glen. :)

I'm a bit under the weather. Even if the weather is nice, I feel like hammered crap.

RKDinOKC 11-12-2017 01:30 PM

Both the CGT and the 918 are Spyders with the exhaust exiting the top of the car above the mid-engine. Makes them look a bit more similar than the front clips like the other models.

GH85Carrera 11-12-2017 01:40 PM

The biggest difference (beside the hybrid part) is that the CGT has no electronic nannys for traction control and just ABS. The 918 has something over 50 computers between the driver and the tires and they all help prevent crashes.

Both are fantastic cars, and I will never own either of them.

RKDinOKC 11-12-2017 02:01 PM

I won't say never, but will say it is statistically every unlikely that I would ever be in a fiscal position to own either.

Have to say that because I thought I would never own a car valued at over $80K.

GH85Carrera 11-12-2017 03:11 PM

Just buying one is the first hurdle. Getting it serviced and paying that service bill out of warranty would be a big chunk of money.
Chatting with the owner of the 918 he said the gear oil has to be changed after a short time. It takes 8 liters and it only is available from Porsche and it is only $400 per liter.
Imagine what replacing one of the 50+ computers will cost when only 918 were made.
I will not have to worry about it.

RKDinOKC 11-12-2017 03:22 PM

Yep, that is why I say fiscal position to own, not just buy.

With the Veyron you are to supposed replace the tires every 2500 miles and both wheels and tires every 5000 miles. And neither is cheap. Don't remember the tires, but the wheels were $2500 each. Didn't spend half that one wheel cost on a whole set of 4 wheels with new tires for the 928GTS.

Almost 8am local. Time to make the Good Morning Post on the Stijn thread to keep it on page 1.

Good Morning!

Felt like Friday was Thursday all day, so today is Sunday. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

And no, that is NOT the trash trucks I hear, it must be noisy mechanical extraterrestrials attacking. They seem to want our trash! Maybe they are using Mr. Fusions to power their ships like in "Back to the Future!"

GH85Carrera 11-13-2017 06:19 AM

Morning all.

Back to regular Monday. The commute was boring no dogs for traffic, Just a straight shot down the hall with a slight turn to get into my office. Fortunately no leaves to see and even more important no road kill. There was a lot of road kill on the trip home. The deer are in rut, so they lose their minds and the interstate had a lot of dead deer, or just the goo left from a deer hit. I avoided any biological road kill. I did have a (expletive deleted) SUV change lanes right in front of me and manage to flip an entire tire tread from some truck right into my lane. I hit it in milliseconds. It went right under the car. From what I can see from the ground there is no damage. I will get it on the lift this week for the wax job and do a undercarriage inspection.

I guess the crash bar for the AC did its job and the fog lights were not hit. It was a very loud ker-thump when it when under. It impacted something under there. Hopefully just a glancing blow on the floor pan.

RKDinOKC 11-13-2017 06:23 AM

Ouch. You are more patient than I. Would already have it in the air doing an inspection if I had a lift. No fluids visibly leaking is a good sign though.

Porsche-poor 11-13-2017 07:07 AM

morning all. worked all weekend getting dads house ready to sell and now back to work here at the nut farm.

Remember the engine is properly placed, at the back. There is no silly radiator or antifreeze to worry about. The radiator and water pump is absolute 100% invulnerable, much like the power steering pump and the ABS pump.

The oil cooler is up inside the fender behind the headlight. The only thing I was concerned about at all was the clutch cable and the shift levers. It is all working perfect so unlikely any damage to those systems.

I expected to see damage to the front valence but I did not see anything except one new small rock chip that can only be seen if you lay down in front of of the bumper.

There is one new rock chip on the rear fender, just above the black rock chip protectors.
