Ours has both charcoal and gas but I have yet in the years we have owned it, bought gas for it. One of these days I will, but not today. It even has a gas burner for a pan on the side!

I saw Die Hard was on cable yesterday. Really. Die Hard.
Isn't this getting a little silly with Christmas shows in September?

RKDinOKC 09-04-2018 12:23 PM

As long as "It's a wonderful life" is not on yet, I'm okay.

My grill is propane and with the chip bin is also a charcoal grill. Have put charcoal brickettes in the chip bin and the burgers tasted just like charcoal only without the muss and fuss of a charcoal grill. It also has a big oven chamber and roasts or smokes. Keep an extra bottle so if it ever runs out (usually halfway thru cooking) can just swap'n'burn on.

Now we just have a propane grill. It has done a great job of grilling whatever we are cooking. The only flaw is the starter button is the first thing to hook up when assembling it, and the entire grill is built around the igniter. I spent an well over an hour trying to get it out, and getting a new one in place, and getting the wires hooked up is impossible. I finally just did a "good enough" fix and built a bracket next to the factory hole, and mounted it there. It is a bit of a jury rig, but it 100% works, and it is nothing anyone has noticed, and I don't give a hoot what anyone thinks of it. Not that anyone has ever noticed it.

Ours isn't too much fuss. We probably did 25-30 cuts of meat yesterday with 1.5 loads of charcoal but the big roast was in the suis vide first for a few hours.

RKDinOKC 09-04-2018 02:55 PM

Because the Smoker/Roaster/Grill uses Infrared heat it cooks really fast, yet the meat comes out juicy and tender. Got one of those wireless thermometers that lets me know when the core of the meat gets to temp. Then you wrap it in aluminum foil and let it set for 30 minutes for the juices to cool back into the meat.

Did both a big roast and a 8lb turkey breast and they were up to temp in 45 minutes. Then 30minutes in foil.

It even has a pan to catch all the juice that runs off while cookin to make gravy and whatnot. Not that I've ever tried making whatnot.

Mine is Propane. Charbroil also has one that works the same way except it's electric instead.

My father in law worked for the local electric company. Their house was ALL electric. He even had an electric grill. It worked really well, as long as you have a 220 connection on the back porch. Which of course he did. I still have and use his 220 volt extension cord. It is handy for the welder, but mostly I use if for my garage AC. He made it from the same wiring the electric company drops from a pole to your house. It is the feed line to the meter, so it can handle 200+ amps with ease. My 20 AMP circuit is no problem.

That's is a reason why I didn't get the electric SRG. No juice to my back patio.

Is anyone else getting more pages showing up on this list that aren't there?
It says 7280 pages for me and shows new posts on 7278.

Jim Richards 09-05-2018 08:11 AM

7278. Mornin’, y’all.

Dad has a gas grill that is infra red also. Supposed to help prevent flare ups. The first time used it caught on fire doing a prime rib.

My SRG has a big pot kind of a thing liner that only has vent holes around the top and a drain hole in the bottom. Completely around that is the body of the grill with the burner in a big circle at the bottom under the pot liner. In the side is a bin you can put chips in that the smoke will fill the pot thru the vent holes around the top. On the top it has the optional grill. A lid covers all that making the smoke stay in longer. It is called true infra red because no actual flame or hot air from the flames do the cooking. It is the radiant heat from the pot thing.

morning all. Eye exam and now I can't see. The screen is way to bright to look at.

Richard I had that page issue yesterday but not today.

Jim Richards 09-05-2018 10:04 AM

Doctor visits making things worse? What’s with that? I went to the Rx yesterday to pick up my prescription refills and decided to get the flu & pneumonia shots while I was there. One in each arm. All night my shoulders hurt and I feel achy all over. Crap. Oh well.

RKDinOKC 09-05-2018 10:06 AM

Spent all morning on campus today. There was a breakfast starting at 7am then 3 meetings and then a pot luck BBQ lunch. All ending at Noon. My 3 bosses all pushed for me to attend.

Despite loading up on imodium yesterday and this morning did not make it thru the 3 meetings. In fact, did not make it the 15 ft from the conference room to the men's room. Took me the rest of that meeting to clean up and wash my clothes out in the sink. Excused myself and left campus with wet clothes.

Dern it, was so proud of parallel parking into an open street spot in front of the offices not much bigger than the Cayenne in one shot. Back in, pull forward just a bit and done. Don't have no backup camera either. Now I've done it in both the Cayenne and the 928.

My 3 bosses all apologized gobs for pushing for me to spend the morning in meetings. All of them told me that they really didn't understand my problem and that is why they pushed for me to attend the meetings in person. Each told me they won't have any problems with me teleconferencing in the future. (Our meeting rooms are all set uo for that anyway.)

Kinda makes me want a restroom like the one in the 007 movie Moon Raker.

Page numbers back to normal now.

Its getting better now. I hate flu shots. Last two I had I got sick and they say its not supposed to do that.

Jim Richards 09-05-2018 10:11 AM

It’s been about 15 years since a flu shot bothered me. Hopefully, the next 15 years are ok.

GH85Carrera 09-05-2018 10:20 AM

I got my pneumonia several years ago. And the shingles vaccination. I will be happy to never have either of those diseases.

I will get a flu shot soon. I have had the flu once in the last 40 years. That was one time too many.

flipper35 09-05-2018 10:36 AM

I get violently sick with the flu shot. All y'all probably remember that conversation though.

Porsche-poor 09-05-2018 10:42 AM

I have to go in tomorrow for my yearly physical. I'm sure they will push for a flu shot. I think I will tell them if I get sick this time they owe me money.

flipper35 09-05-2018 10:49 AM

They keep telling me the shot doesn't give you the flu. I tell them I know, it makes me far more sick than the flu. Like 2 days curled on the bathroom floor sick. At least with the flu I can lay in bed and watch TV or read.
