Yea, staying at Richard's is one way to have your wife never speak to you again. With an entire family, you want a motel. Thursday afternoon is scheduled as a fly day for me, depending on weather.

Porsche-poor 10-09-2018 07:03 AM

Morning all. enjoy the Tuesday.

We are having lotsa rain!

Just had a little bitty F0 tornado pop up (or is that down) about two miles away from me. Some heavy rains, no damage here.

Porsche-poor 10-09-2018 08:36 AM

its wet here as well. but we do not have twisty things falling from the sky. Chestnuts falling from the trees but they only hurt for a little bit.

Yep, my house is kinda like those hoarders houses on TV, well, except that I don't have near that much Junk or any bugs or rats. My excuse is I am a single guy.

My friend's in Austin that let me stay with them have a lot more junk than I do. There is a specific path to walk on actual floor thru the house though. She has told me I am the only one they will let stay at their house, or even visit for that matter including their parents and siblings. They have not mowed the back yard in 25 years. Good thing there is a stockade fence. Friend said he started to mow it once, but saw poison ivy and quit. Last time I stayed with them they had raccoons in their attic. I fixed their Dyson vacuum. All the lines were clogged leaves and sticks, despite only being used inside. Told them to get a shop vac. Even bought and put out traps for the mouse I saw zip thru the kitchen. First it tripped the spring traps without getting caught, then it put a rag from their laundry over the sticky trap. That kinda scared me when I saw it had figured out to cover the sticky traps!

This Fridays is......FRIDAY THE 13TH!!!!

NOooooooo,

RKDinOKC 10-09-2018 12:24 PM

Cattleman's Cafe here in OKC is supposed to be really good steaks. But they don't do BBQ. And I don't eat lambs fries neither.

Porsche-poor 10-09-2018 01:40 PM

well then 2 out of 3 can't be to bad.

RKDinOKC 10-09-2018 01:42 PM

Oh good, I was miss-informed. Now I don't have to keep an eye out for anyone in a goalie mask.

Some really good Okie places to eat...
Cattleman's
Hideaway Pizza
Pearl's seafood, Glen's fav.
Johnnie's Charcoal Burgers
Earl's Rib Palace (we went there last time)
Zarate's Latin Grill (Glen and I had lunch there today)
Golden Palace (good Chinese buffet with a Mongolian grill)

GH85Carrera 10-09-2018 02:16 PM

There are tons of great restaurants.

If you are coming Thursday afternoon, I will be in the air flying and then working on the project until 10:30 PM at least. I can meet up with you and family on Friday after 9:00 AM.

Porsche-poor 10-09-2018 02:38 PM

Glen I have a question for you that maybe out of your realm but here goes. I have some old tapes from a video camera (the smaller format not vhs). What is the best way to get them converted to DVD?

flipper35 10-09-2018 06:40 PM

Richard, as entertaining as your dog would be we will just grab a hotel since there is four of us and I am not sure what time we will be headed out, but thanks.

David, if they are the hi-8 or mini vhs we can do that for you. DVD or MKV or both. If you like.

Glen, we will probably get out of here around 11am Thursday so 4-5 when we get to OK. Will hit the site that evening as well.

RKDinOKC 10-09-2018 08:41 PM

Am sure hotel accommodations are nicer and cleaner than a single man's pit. And I won't have to scrape the boxes of junk off the beds and put on fresh bedding.

When I stay with my friends in Austin they always clean up their spare bed. Their guest bedroom is wall to wall shelves full and stacks of boxes of books. There is just a path to the bed. My friend has kept every book he's ever read. They think I'm crazy because I would rather sleep on their big comfy overstuffed couch than the hard mattress in their guest bedroom full of books. Sometime when I wake up, he's in the guest bed. They both wear CPAPs so I assume it's some sort of dueling CPAP thing.

GH85Carrera 10-10-2018 06:20 AM

Brent, sorry I don't know of anyone that does that except Brent. :)

I will have to be at the airport tomorrow at 2:00 so I guess I will miss you and the family this year. Sorry.

Do you know of any good sites besides Amazon and NewEgg that I can buy components to build yet another computer. I am starting the process for another killer dream machine. i9 CPU with a bunch of cores, 64 gig of RAM at the minimum and needs room to expand and lots of cooling and space for lots of drives.

Porsche-poor 10-10-2018 07:11 AM

Morning all.

Brent I'll look this weekend and let you know what they are. What's the cost to have them converted to DVD?

RKDinOKC 10-10-2018 08:17 AM

Good Morning...

When I first moved to this house I got a Mac Proforma 6400 VEE. VEE stood for Video Editing Edition. It had an extra video card that would input/output Video and Svideo. It would also do firewire, etc. It also had software to deal with doing the video stuff and could make a DVD. Don't remember what the heck I did with it when I upgraded.

It was really fool proof and don't know why Apple changed. When you opened the box there was a poster that SHOWED step by step how setup and plug in the Mac, monitor, keyboard, mouse, camera, etc.

When you followed the instructions and turned it on, the young lady walked out onto the desktop and showed how to use the mouse and keyboard. How to navigate, etc. She pointed at the things you were supposed to click on, etc. Any time you clicked on the help icon she would walk out onto the screen and show and tell you how to do whatever it was you were trying to do in any of the programs that came on the computer including word and excel and the video apps. It was actually very amazing.

That was the only mac I ever got that came with such involved help like that.

Wish I could find something like that for my brother Bob. For someone that has had computers for so long he sure doesn't know how to do anything. He doesn't even understand you can type a question or subject in the web browser and it will search the internet.

When I had the VEE Mac I sent birthday and holiday cards to my family members that were videos on a CD. That was really cool back then. Sadly was all I ever diid with it.

Porsche-poor 10-10-2018 08:33 AM

Sounds cool. At this point all I have is the tapes and no player.

RKDinOKC 10-10-2018 09:14 AM

Not even the camera used?
