I am still bummed out about that. I was unemployed at the time, and spending money like I had just received a big raise, starting up a company. It was real hard to figure out a way to still go to Parade while unemployed, and looking for business of any sort. Really hard to justify going on a two week vacation just 30 days after loosing my job.

Now I know for sure getting fired for the first time in my life was the best thing that happened to me that year, or decade.

Porsche-poor 12-04-2018 11:24 AM

I know I just like to give you crap about it. The upside I took a 5 hour drive in the 911 With my dad. Last one he ever got. But still you bailed on the trip. Go drink some of the boss's beer for me.

GH85Carrera 12-04-2018 12:10 PM

I will toast to your dad when it get to beer thirty is a few hours.

The photo in Panorama of your dad is great. I have been to 16 Porsche Parades, and the only photos they shoot of me are with me in the background or part of a group.

Porsche-poor 12-04-2018 01:02 PM

Don't think I saw the picture in Panorama but that was perfect of him and his attitude. Only guy I know that would wear an American muscle car shirt to a Porsche event.

Yeah, also a contributing factor for lunch invittions is that our homes are located 1/2 miles from each other. Usually farther to a lunch establishment than it is to each other's home.

GH85Carrera 12-04-2018 01:10 PM

When the weather is pretty we go for a walk into your neighborhood. That circuitous road from our house into your street is hilly and about 1/2 a mile. We turn around at where the road changes from one area to the other at the south end street you are on. If the dogs still want to go on we walk through our neighborhood. Unless we at at Sonic, Braum's McDonald's or Jimmy John's we are gonna go further to the restaurant than each others house. Oh yea, the "Yummy China" and Subway are in the range.

RKDinOKC 12-04-2018 04:52 PM

Only one of those places I go in sit down and eat, Braums. And usually only if my wheelchair brother wants to eat there. He usually wants to go to lunch after noon while everything is crowded and takes much longer. Glen and i usually meet up a little after 11 before the lines get too long.

Started meeting by chance at a place that had a lasagna special on Tuesdays. The place closed and we still have lunch on Tuesdays.

GH85Carrera 12-05-2018 06:43 AM

I have lived in this neighborhood for over 21 years. I have yet to set foot in the nearby McDonald's. I went into the Starbucks only once, just to buy some gift cards for the nurses at the hospital where I had my hip operation. I passed out the gift cards for coffee to the helpful nurses, which almost all of them were.

I just wish we would get a grocery store in this area. The Braum's Fresh Market is very hit and miss. I have never seen a store before that has more problems keeping fruit in stock, that is something anyone would buy. Sometimes they have great fruit, other times it looks like the zombie apocalypse is a week old, just empty shelves. It is sad that the gas station convenience store has better bananas that the "fresh market."

morning all. short day I have to pick up the kid after school.

It’s raining again, here. Forecast calls for rain continuing until tomorrow evening. I think we might see some more rain next week, too. This is great!

Porsche-poor 12-05-2018 08:19 AM

it better not rain here its only 28 out.

GH85Carrera 12-05-2018 08:33 AM

We are under a winter storm watch. Clear blue skies and 44 degrees outside right now.

On Friday the bad pookie gets here and messes up the Friday night plans, dumps some possible ice and snow and maybe into Saturday. Sunday is back to mid 40s. Gotta go get the snow shovel out of the shed.

We had a party to go to on Friday night at some friends new house. We ain't going if the forecast is is accurate. I might have gone out in that crap when I was in my 20s, and there was a horny girlfriend at the other house. There is nothing I can think of that will get me out of the house and on the roads in icy weather now. We have plenty of food, I will stock up on beer supplies before the weather gets bad.

The last tie I was inside a McDonalds I was puking in the toilet. First time in my life I had gotten motion sick. I didn't even get a hint of motion sickness under the hood doing recovery from unusual attitudes in my flight training or when I broke a wing off in a full motion fight sim. Actually, that was one of the most fun parts of flight training. Spins and cross control stalls were fun too.

No rain or snow here for the moment. Who knows in an hour or two.

Jacob is refurbishing a Remington model 514 and all he has left is to steel wool the stock and wax it then it can be reassembled. He did 90% of the work but I did fit the new extractor for him since it is small and required a dremel. Even then the extractor isn't 100%.

After 29 years of marriage I'm not chasing anything so ice skating is out.

GH85Carrera 12-05-2018 08:38 AM

We will stop at McDonalds on road trips. They usually have clean bathrooms and large parking lots. We don't eat lunch or dinner there, but will eat a breakfast there is is is close to the motel. In Erie, PA I booked a room on Bookin.com and it said "free breakfast" in the advert. The room was fine, but the free breakfast was a voucher to the McDonalds in the parking lot in front of the hotel. It is not a bad breakfast.

27 years for us, and there is nothing I want to chase after at all, Mrs Carrera comes to bed every night, no chasing required. I for sure will look at pretty women, but I ain't gonna touch.

Mertnin Stijners.

I like ther sausage biscuits. When I was down with my foot they had a double cheese burger with lettuce tomato and mayo, think they called it the deluxe. Not any more though. Deluxe is exactly the same as the doublecheeseburger except for the name.

flipper35 12-05-2018 08:49 AM

On road trips we have a rule to not eat somewhere we have at home. The burgers at McD's are way to salty around here to eat and the Bic Mac can have me laid up for a couple hours and they stopped serving the hot mustard sauce with the nuggets so I generally don't eat there.

The hotel we stayed at in Erie had free breakfast and it had made to order omelets and such. That one was a good breaky. McD's breakfast isn't bad, but we have other places we like better. Hard to beat a breakfast burrito when on the go.
