My business partner has a matched pair of the 30 inch curved screens. Each at 4K. Side by side they are an immersive view. Really cool. but his "desk" is a pair of 6 foot tables pushed together with nice covers on them. The main computer the pair of monitors is next to the three other workstations on one wall, each with large single monitors. Those computers often run as slaves and the CPS are just working as "fusers" across the network crunching data. Set em up and let them eat.

They are Apple Cinema Thunderbolt displays. Each is 27in 2560x1440. Each also has speakers, microphone, and camera.

That would be nice since I don't need 4k for what I use them for, though we do have a 4k TV to replace our old one.

RKDinOKC 01-14-2019 02:07 PM

Since mostly watch Kodi not a lot of 4K streaming without buffering. And honestly between my Sony BRAVIA and my eyes, can't tell much different between 720 and 1080. Actually most SD rasters up pretty good. Except for the CAM boot leg stuff, but the sound sucks on that as well.

Most of what we watch on the 4k TV is SD. Was just hard to pass up a clearance deal 55" 4k LG for $255.

I'm watching it rain in ∞K. On the Mother Nature channel. We're supposed to have a few days of rain this time. In my limited time living in SoCal, I've never seen it rain this much.

Best thing about TMN channel is the smellovision and true surround sound. Nothing like a good rain and lightning to cleanse the air.

Looks like my family took the sun with them when they went home. Sorry.

It's OK David. I put down some grass seed on an area that's patchy in the back yard. Mother Nature is watering it for me. Thanks Ma!

Glad I could help. Probably not back down till fall at this point.

I guess I'll need to use the sprinkler sometime between now and then.

Porsche-poor 01-14-2019 03:18 PM

don't over water it.

GH85Carrera 01-15-2019 06:27 AM

Wake up guys.

I "got" to pay my estimated taxes yesterday. Ouch. Now I have until April 15th to figure out how much taxes I really owe. That will cost me more money for my CPA's time. Hopefully he can save me as much as he costs, or better yet, same me more.

Porsche-poor 01-15-2019 07:07 AM

Morning all. HA I can't remember when the last time I didn't pay taxes.

GH85Carrera 01-15-2019 07:14 AM

Oh we all pay em. I have been paying since I was in high school. BUT the difference was the payroll deduction.

I remember my first paycheck, the guy I worked for only wrote a check once a month, so I was adding up the hours, and doing the math on what I was going to get. Then I got the check, and he had my Uncle Sam as a partner in my pay as a big part of it and I was mad that I did not get what I thought. I learned to accept, my Uncle Sam loves me working hard and making overtime so he gets a bigger paycheck as well, but I did not have to writhe a check for it, it was deducted, so less painful.

No I get to send ol Uncle Sam a nice fat electronic check and see it disappear from my checking account. And of course My Uncle Sam's cousin old Okie State wants a share as well.

Porsche-poor 01-15-2019 07:32 AM

I don't think I have seen a refund since before 1989. After that I was married with dual income and made sure I paid but paid very little. Don't make a thing off of letting them keep my money all year.

RKDinOKC 01-15-2019 07:34 AM

Gubment thinks they gotta get some "tax money" any time money changes hands.

Property tax and insurance is more than my mortgage payment.

GH85Carrera 01-15-2019 07:49 AM

Yea, it is staggering how much the simple honor of living in our paid for house costs. The property taxes are low compared to many states, but still lots of money. We had some local kids come to the door looking to sell some crap to help them in school. I told him I pay over 2 grand per year to the school system, and I have never sent one kid to school. I fully understand we have to have schools but dor what they cost, it is sure not much return. Every year they lower the standards, and the grades still drop.

When I see TV shows about the education in China and Japan, it is sad to me. They are doing a great job of teaching kids, and in the US the culture is the smart kids are the geeks and not cool, and to be cool, you have to have bad grades and ignorance is cool.

Porsche-poor 01-15-2019 07:54 AM

Yep I am the same way. For years we sent both kids to private school so I was really paying for 4 kids cause I didn't get a break for not having kids in public school.
