So no rear disc upgrade?

You bet. It will be super hot, but not as humid as the last two years. The rumor is French Lick is on for 2 years out. Evidently the hotel loved us, and PCA loved the hotel. It was a nice venue.

Actually, there are upgrade packages available; however, some aren’t all that good, and I’m not sure if any provide value commensurate with their cost. I might look at a front big brake kit when I’m ready to refresh the front brakes, Maybe soon.

Phew. The car is mostly unpacked, and still filthy. I have to much real work to do to go play with my car right now. Gotta pay for that expensive vacation somehow.

I will post a few photos as I get time.

Porsche-poor 07-29-2019 06:59 AM

Morning all. Two more days till Japan. I am not cleaning the bugs off the plane.

Proof I was there!

I had to pay 5 bucks to park on the street close by. I set my brother up with my camera, in rapid fire mode. Shutter priority, everything ready to go, showed him I wanted the telephoto view, and he was ready. So off I went, around the block, and made a drive by.

I asked him later how many pictures did he think he shot. He guessed 35 or 40. It was 138. :D Just like the pros, spray and pray. With no film cost, who cares, it is just electrons.

I found the best photo, opened it in RAW mode, adjusted the color temp to 5,500 kelvin, and cropped it a bit. Done, no other editing.

I looked at several read disc brake packages for the Cobra, but never had any issues with the huge drums back there. I have, however, melted the material off the pads of the original front discs. Went with a new kit on front with bigger rotors and calipers and no problems since. It does need flushed though.

Went to Airventure Friday. Wasn't as good as most years.

Jim Richards 07-29-2019 12:41 PM

Glen, your car continues to look great! Nice scenic location. :)

Brent, I agree that the drums should be fine. The front brakes will do most of the work, so they will be my eventual focus.

So is Palm Springs confirmed? I might come for a few days, but damn it’ll be hot. 🥵🥵🥵

GH85Carrera 07-29-2019 08:19 PM

Stijn!!

Oh, come on Sid, you live in south Arizona. You grew up in Oklahoma, a little heat is something you should be able to handle.

And yes, the Palm Springs in June is confirmed. It will be very hot, but I hear it is a dry heat. ;)

GH85Carrera 07-30-2019 06:41 AM

My cable company just increased my internet speed at home. 181.0 MBps download speed is nice. Still just 10.8 up.

I got up early and debugged and washed the outside of the 911. It looks a lot better. Still need to do the inside. The temp was low 70% but the humidity is insane levels, 93% is nuts. To be in the shade in the low 70s and have a heat index is just wrong.

Before the cleanup from a 4,000 mile trip.

Porsche-poor 07-30-2019 07:03 AM

Your oven is a dry heat also.

flipper35 07-30-2019 11:39 AM

Yea, I know but the dry heat line is what all the Arizona folk say about the heat when talking about the heat.

It is mid 90s now here, but still humid as heck.

sounds like Japan only they predict rain as well.

GH85Carrera 07-30-2019 12:20 PM

Be glad you are not going to France. It has been insane hot, and AC is not common.

Porsche-poor 07-30-2019 01:23 PM

Not kidding. It was hot enough there last year.

They used to say that in El Centro also. Same reply applies. You should NOT have to have pot holders in the car to do simple things like start it and put it in gear!
