Sounds like a good excuse to go home early on a Friday.

Porsche-poor 11-08-2019 09:46 AM

that's the plan. I screwed up and took some non-drowsy cough med last night. No sleep for me.

flipper35 11-08-2019 09:48 AM

Well, the cough would have kept you up anyway.

Porsche-poor 11-08-2019 10:13 AM

Probably would have. Should have mixed it with scotch...………………..

flipper35 11-08-2019 10:53 AM

We all played bingo tonight. Well not all, just 150 or so of the ones that wanted to. Mrs Carrera and I both had a bingo at the same time and my card was a double bingo. Diagonal and across both. So I got two door prizes, she got one. She let me have the Porsche shop towel like comes in a factory tool kit. I got a t-shirt that says my garage makes me happy. And it does of course.

Woke up early and can't sleep. Guess I must be getting better.

They had a drug test at work thurs. Sent someone from HR and someone from security to my house to get my saliva sample. Kinda weird because I am off for medical leave, and taking the oxycotton pain killers they are supposed to be testing for. They usually call people that did not pass within 24hrs. Did not get called so guess I somehow passed.

Now gotta get it figured out how to use Uber for doctor's appointments.

Been watching the market and found a Red 2005 Base Cayenne for 6900. It don't have any extra options, but I didn't really use air suspension anyway, and the nav on my phone worked better. The only thing I'm not sure about is the cornering headlights. A Turbo S with all the features runs about 11,000.

I have used Uber just once so I am a total expert.....

Set up the app, get the address of where you want to go, open the app and tell them you want to go to the address. When you first start you are a 5 star customer. They all want a 5 star customer and get there fast. Be pleasant, give them a tip with the app, and post a positive review. You will be rated by the driver. If they give you a positive rating, you are still a 5 star customer. If they give you a lower rating, your shiny stars drop away.
A 5 buck tip is fine for a short trip.

We are off to the Low Gap your today. I guess when we see a gap in something that is low, we are there.

Well.

At least it was not my car. Phew.

It was a guy in his 84 Carrera. He is 100% unhurt. The car protected him. He can get it fixed.

Richard, I think your track record with Cayenne's warrants a re-think about buying yet another one. Ma Nature is sending you a message. No mo' Pepperwagons!

Phew we are back home. All safe and sound. Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma see to have a lot of exploding deer on the interstate. We came across the remnants of at least 30 deer. Nothing much left but goo, and some fur bits and a hoof or leg. Lots of the same think in the rural roads, just a goo was left, and the rest went home with someone as roadkill meals. It is just a large black mess on the road, and sometimes bits and pieces.

RKDinOKC 11-11-2019 04:19 AM

There is a reason I am driving Pepperwagons...

Several years ago (was driving my Boxster) and need a 4door.
Got a new VW Passat. Thought it was great.
Then drove the Boxster to Austin to visit a friend that was getting married.
The next weekend drive the Passat to Waco for the wedding. Was a taxi for the event.
Anyway Almost did not make it home. The seat pinched my butt nerves, which caused pain in the butt, my feet and legs going to sleep and my feet waking me a night hurting.
Could not drive the VW for more than 5 minutes with it causing severe pain in the butt.
At 2500 miles VW bought the car back.
Could still drive the Boxster with no problems.

While my nerves were irritated drove all the new and used 4 door sedans I could find.
Result was only either a Volvo S40 or a BMW 3 series if the BMW had sport seats.
Got the two dealers into a price war and got the BMW.
Worked great.

Then needed an SUV so traded the 3 series for a BMW X3 with sports seats.
The short wheel base of the X3 started giggling me to death so sold it and
Ended up buying a cheap 92 Range Rover.
Range Rover started hurting my butt if drove farher than across town.

Sold it and found a cheap used CayenneS. (the air suspension helped getting mom in and out).
After a few years upgraded it to a Turbo to get the cornering lights.
Have driven the 928, CayenneS, and Cayenne Turbo all on long tripss with no butt issues.

GH85Carrera 11-11-2019 06:13 AM

I sure love the factory seats in my 911. They fit my butt and back just right. I can easily do a 900 miles day and not feel even a little sore.

We got home, got the clothes washed, and the 911 all cleaned up. It was 72 degrees and beautiful yesterday. One them them dang Canadians sent down a cold front, and now it is cold and windy as heck.

It was just nice that the weekend was pretty, and the weather go crappy on Monday. It so often seems to be crappy on the weekends, and turn perfect on Monday. Unless you live in the land of beautiful scenery, ocean beaches, great weather, earthquakes, firestorms, high taxes, mudslides, race riots, and electrical blackouts.

RKDinOKC 11-11-2019 06:26 AM

The Passat was the first non-porsche I had driven in a long time.
Never had any problems in any of the porsches.

Porsche-poor 11-11-2019 07:25 AM

Morning all. I see you made it thru the outage Glen.
