I don't mind wearing out that excess unsprung weight of the tires and pads down. The pads are super easy to replace. The rear shoes for the parking brake are really not available in the proper fitment. The company that does make them has them the wrong size, so it takes modification by grinding to make them fit. And it is a pain to even get to them. Mine are still original, and in great shape. The only way to wear them out is drive off with the brake set, or use them on track.

We just had the same subcontractor come inspect the same sewer system that was checked a few months ago. Last time they were mapping the exact location, but that department evidently does not share that information inside the same company when working for the same client. The new crew was probing around trying to find the same manhole cover. I showed them where is was. This time they are doing an acoustic test to check for blockages.

It is a neat gizmo. It straddles the manhole, and emits a scale of tones. From supper low to very high pitched, and loud. Another guy at the next manhole has a receiver and he records the sounds and then the computer analize the data.

Of course if the city had asked for both tests to be done at the same time the cost would be a LOT less, but hey it is just tax money and that is unlimited, just raise the city water rates and taxes if more is needed.

Wow, it is 73 degrees and almost an inch of rain. I like it!

The power company will hate it, but too bad.

Oh hell no!

It is 97% humidity out there. With the roof cooled off and the attic cooled with the ventilation the AC is coasting in dehumidify mode.

The only time we open the windows is to clean them.

Porsche-poor 07-27-2020 01:52 PM

lol don't blame you. its 90 here right now.

GH85Carrera 07-27-2020 02:01 PM

I just went out to get the mail in a light sprinkle. 73 degrees and the silly high humidity it "feels like" 77, according to my Vantage Vue. It for sure felt warmer outside than in, and any activity would cause a lot of sweat and uncomfortable conditions.

Porsche-poor 07-27-2020 02:19 PM

That's why I live here.

GH85Carrera 07-27-2020 02:27 PM

I do not remember ever having such a humid summer. Often it is so dry it sucks the moisture from everything in late July. This year we are cooler and wetter than normal.

Porsche-poor 07-27-2020 02:28 PM

climate change.

RKDinOKC 07-27-2020 03:53 PM

Today and tomorrow my electricity is only 10¢ a kWh from 2pm to 7pm, it has been 22¢. The other 19 hrs it's only 5¢ a kWh.

GH85Carrera 07-28-2020 06:07 AM

We might break the record for the lowest high temperature for today. If we stay below 80 degrees we can do it. We have had over 2 inches of rain in the last 24 hours. Most of it steady slow rain. Just a few down-bursts.

I like it.

RKDinOKC 07-28-2020 08:14 AM

We could call the radio stations and see if we can get everone to turn the AC down and open their doors and windows? Maybe that would keep it under 80°F!

That would just waste electricity, and get a lot of people mosquito bites. The AC in the house only works because it pumps the heat into the AC system and the condenser forces the heat outside into the air.

I really don't care is we do beat the record. I am just glad it is not a new record high, or a record low in January.

RKDinOKC 07-28-2020 08:35 AM

You mean the cooler air inside the house would not offset the hot condensor outside? :) figured at least the rioters and urban terrorists would do it.

GH85Carrera 07-28-2020 08:45 AM

Yep, and even if we had some magic way to pump the heat into stratosphere, all of the man made cooling is nothing at all compared to the sun's heat. The energy in the atmosphere is immense.

I remember more than once a pleasant evening after some rain and then a thunderstorm collapsed overhead and in the middle of the night is is 100+ degrees.

Or look at the weather in Oklahoma for 11/11/11 or November 11th 1911. Record highs and lows were established on the same day in Oklahoma City as well with a high of 83 °F and low of 17 °F temperature difference: 66 °F Both records still hold.

RKDinOKC 07-28-2020 09:19 AM

Well, the only positive thing I can think of for the protestors and rioters is, well, soylent green.
Just don't let them know it turns them all into crackers.

Morning all. Just got off the phone with the internet provider upgrading to unlimited data. With both working from home, the one kid at home and streaming in the evenings we were killing the data off pretty fast.

Besides I have to post here.

GH85Carrera 07-28-2020 10:06 AM

With my Gigablast Internet (up to 940 Mbps down 35 Up) so not really Giga anything, but close, I have to guess I have unlimited. I have yet to find a site that delivers anything close to that speed except the speed test sites.

Dealing with government entities for business is always "different" than other businesses. We have an upcoming project, and they asked for a W-9. Easy, send them the PDF I filled out back in 2015. A week later, they attach the new 2018 version from the IRS.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1595955702.jpg

The ONLY difference at all, is the line that says Revision October 2018. The old one was from 2015. The old one had just one page of instructions as the rest of the PDF document. The new one is 5 pages long. All the information I sent, is identical. Only the first page is used, the rest are the instructions on how to fill it out.

But the customer wants an updated one, so here ya go.

RKDinOKC 07-28-2020 10:14 AM

My Nephew is in a neighborhood that gets fiber. 1.5 GB up and down for 115 a month with a static IP.

flipper35 07-28-2020 10:15 AM

Our speeds down are fine but I wish our upload speeds were as good.
