GH85Carrera 12-21-2021 06:59 AM

Don't be a stranger until Monday!

We need your words of wisdom.

Porsche-poor 12-21-2021 07:43 AM

drink the boss's beer.

I think I'm done here.

flipper35 12-21-2021 03:10 PM

The new one I applied for was a good match.

Porsche-poor 12-21-2021 03:33 PM

I hope you get it.

Of all the jobs so far, this one stands out. Can work from home part time as well, which is nice with aging parents.

GH85Carrera 12-22-2021 06:09 AM

Good luck with the new job. I will make a wild guess that it is something in the IT sector. ;)

Merry Christmas guys, I hope Pelican gets back to running like normal. It must be a expensive mess to run this board. All the income I make for posting is stops when the board is down.

My seatbelts were done, so I drove the three or so miles over there to pick them up. I wondered out to the garage garage to check out just what I need to do to install them. I was disappointed to see it requires removing the entire seat, and pulling back the carpet to get to the bolts. I did that probably 15 years ago when I replaced the driver's side seat belt. That time I replaced the carpet.

The carpeting needs to be replaced yet again. I guess every 187,000 miles the carpet needs to be replaced. It is faded from sitting in the sun all day at my last job, and has some decent wear on the driver side. It is past time. So I guess I will be ordering carpet, and removing the seat, and carpet. They also sell a lower door panel that has two 5.25 inch speaker holes formed in on each side. That may well be on the list of things to order. The speakers in the car now are in the dash. They are 3.5 inch and pretty crappy. So I mat well just finally get some decent speakers after 30 years. No big rush. ;)

It is 78 degrees today and I had to run the AC when I was out driving around an errand. I am in shorts! I love Christmas Eve in shorts.

Fun times continue. My old office chair was really rather ugly as it was called a "gamer's chair" and designed to appeal to gamers that have flashing lights all over their game machine computer. It was a recliner with a foot rest so it met my needs and was one of the few office chairs I could find at the time with a built in foot rest.

It was falling apart and I had to have some of the frame welded up long ago. So I found a new and improved office chair that is actually not too ugly, and this one is called an executive chair. I ordered it and the expected delivery was between the 6th and 10 of Jan 2022. It arrived today. Only because I was not really in a hurry, and the 10th would have been fine. It is a lot more comfy, and a ton better looking. I am not super fond of the arm rests as they are a little too high and not adjustable. I will adapt. The backrest is tall enough that my head rests comfortably if I lean back. I suspect it will have the same automatic snooze inducing features at the old recliner. I may have to test that feature out tomorrow and take a nap on the boss's time.

Morning all. Back from xmas. We did the family dinner at my nieces house so I didn't have to tkae my home office apart. I supplied the ham and she cooked it. Worked out great.

We had a pretty laid back Christmas. I invited a buddy, former room mate, former boss over for steaks. We each had a T-bone steak, and some beer and good conversation. He is an interesting guy, that has owned several businesses. It was good to catch up and have some company.

He was a partner in the company I first worked for when I moved to OKC in 1978. He sold his part to the other guy, and not long after caught his first wife screwing around. After the divorce he wanted a room mate at a duplex, and we were roomies for a couple of years. I finally bought a house and used his mom as my real estate agent. He started a yard sprinkler business and did that for years. Finally he got back into the photolab business and was a friendly competitor to the company I worked at. When our company's boss had health issues, he shut down that company, and we all moved to my buddies company. I worked for him for a few years but I could see the photolab business was dying from digital photography.

I left him and got into aerial photography. He struggled on for a while, but analog light sensitive photography was dying and so did Kodak.

Oh I forgot to mention that we have about 6" of the white fluffy stuff on the ground.

GH85Carrera 12-27-2021 08:24 AM

Yuck. I wore shorts for the last three days. It was over 80 on Christmas day. I enjoyed that. We saw a few kids with now bikes and electric toy cars out enjoying their new toy. Winter comes back just in time for the New Year for us. Just cold weather, no white or frozen crap.

Porsche-poor 12-27-2021 08:30 AM

its currently 17 out. I'm not going out.

HobieMarty 12-27-2021 08:47 AM

It is currently 67 degrees here in central Bama, was very foggy this morning and has been gloomy looking outside for the past two days. We are expecting rain starting tomorrow and lasting pretty much the rest of the week. That's okay with me, I'm enjoying a week off from work of just relaxing, we are on our winter shutdown and I won't have to go back to work until January 4th. Yay!!!

The old office chair is dissembled, and in the wheelie bin trash can to go to the curb. The box and packing material is in the recycling bin. It too goes to the curb today for pickup tomorrow.

I ma still getting used to the new chair. The arm rests are not adjustable, and just a bit tall for my tastes. The lumbar support is a bit bigger than I would prefer. When stretched out the foot rest is more of a calf rest. It is still way more comfortable than the old chair. And a ton quieter. The old worn out one had a lot os squeaks and rattles. The new one is dead silent. And a lot cushier.

Porsche-poor 12-28-2021 06:39 AM

Morning. Got another 1" last night. So much for the shoveling.

GH85Carrera 12-28-2021 07:20 AM

We are supposed to be back to 70 degrees today.

I was amazed how heavy that old office chair was when taken apart and put in the wheelie bin. It is gone and the box for the new chair was all cut up and stuffed into the recycle bin.

We have de-Christmased the house. The tree is back in the attic, and all the decorations are back in the plastic tubs and in the attic. Now we just prepare for the massive New Year's Eve party. We will party like we have for the last 21 years, in bed by 10:30. I have not seen midnight on NYE since 1999 and I only stayed up to see the world come to an end from the Y2K computer crash. Of course not one thing happened and life went on with no issues, so we went to sleep.

Porsche-poor 12-28-2021 07:57 AM

its snowing again.

Porsche-poor 12-28-2021 08:57 AM

went after new shoes for the RDX. Just a tad slick out there.
