Golly Photoshop is fun. I sure love Adobe! Said no one ever!

The latest version update once again changed the batch routines. The camera we use to shoot obliques is a Canon 5DS R full sensor camera (8688x5792 pixels) that if we just save the image as a TIF file, it is over 150 MB. As a JPG is squeezes it down to about 31 MB. Most customers choke on those huge files, so I have a batch setup in Photoshop to resize the files, and save them as a JPG. That gets them to 4 MB which is more than enough for most customers.

Of course the batch file decides to just not work, and waste my time until I figured out the new tweaks. Photoshop used to have a super easy to use batch routine. Now I have to hop on one leg, juggle three balls and sing the words to Louie Louie.

in what language?

ARGH!

I opened a tiny little file to make an 11x17 print. A simple resize and NOPE! All of sudden my video driver is out of date, and oh by the way, Photoshop has a new update as well.

So download the Photoshop update, the opening splash screen is a nice improvement, a pretty blonde superhero looking chick. Then I have to go to the Nvida web site and find the two video cards I have, and download the new drivers. NO!, I don't want any games or game setups with my drivers.

Get those installed and lo and behold, Windows 11 has a new update that rebooted my system four times!

Now, finally I can make a resized image. Golly computers are fun!

G’day Glen. It’s just starting to warm up - I was out at a remote community on Tuesday, fixing a busted VHF antenna and the temp was 43C.

Off to Darwin next week to collect a new border collie pup and will have a few days R&R camped at the Hilton.

BTW, I’ve ordered this;

One of my PCA friends I met at Porsche Parade, lives in Hawaii, on the big Island. He has a 944 that he keeps at a friends garage here in on the continent. He has a 356 and a two 911s in Hawaii. He is driving it cross country from Virginia to California. He just made the crossing across Kansas into Colorado. He said he now believes the Earth is flat. ;)

Drive for hours, stop for gas and a bladder break, drive for hours, stop again and nothing has changed. It is like you drove in a circle and came back to the same place.

The mean old boss sent me out to help his wife in the garden. I became the voice activated, automatic hole digger, and soil mover. Way back when we first moved in, 24 years ago I mowed the far west side of the driveway. It was the second part of the yard converted to a garden. We had put in two different concrete borders to keep the grass out of bushes and plants. The entire area is now a garden, so the rings had to be dug up. Two old almost dead plants got removed, and two new ones put into new positions where the concrete borders were.

Then she had me dig up some of the clay dirt, and bury it in the compost pile. So ultimately I buried dirt.

Well, last Saturday I got the Durango all cleaned up and we donated it for the local Afghan family to use. He took shrapnel defending our troops, it was the least we could do.

Phew, I got up early and washed the El Camino in the super pleasant morning weather. About ideal temps, and no wind. Then I did an oil change on the 911. Got that finished, and now I am working!

Wonderful problem to have, several customers call all at the same time and want a project flown. And they all want them done ASAP. I guess me greed will keep me happy to work on the weekend, and I don't even get overtime from that cheap dip stick of a boss.

Same here, still need to wax and detail it this week.
Got dirty parked on Phil Hill (a dirt parking lot) at Laguna Seca for a week.

Then resurrected a 30 foot electric fence along a high retaining wall to keep the racoons from getting on the garage roof, doing their business and getting muddy paw prints on the white painted fascia boards.

"Big ol" in the authentic Okie vernacular, I can hear it. :D
True need to find a grippy ladder for the painted floor.
Good garage weather finally. :)

Often the phrase is "a big ol goodun, or a good ol bigun"

Another 55 degree morning. The humidity is super low, so it gets to the mid 80s in the afternoon.

We have 5 projects in the works. My computer is churning a lot of data. Just pricing everything is a challenge. The price of our 182's fuel bill is almost double per gallon from a year ago. One project we flew to Colorado to shoot was over 800 bucks in gas alone.

And our airplane is down for it's annual inspection. More money to spend for a mechanic to certify everything is in top shape, and if something needs attention, get it fixed. Lots of fun.

Starvation?

The yard is mowed! I used up the last of my yard equipment gasoline, so I needed to get more. I have a 5 gallon round metal gas can that I remember as a little kid using when I was at my dad's parents place helping mow the yard. It was old then, and now so am I.

Anyway grandpa bought a good can. The El Camino was low on gas, so I filled up the Elky and got 2 gallons of gas in the yard equipment can. 5 Gallons is heavy, and hard to pour, so being lazy, I just get 2 gallons. I also had to buy some beer "while I was there" and I used the bosses credit card for all of that.

There was a professional yard crew there getting gas at the same time. The El Camino was complimented, and one of the guys wanted to buy my gas can. He did not like my price however, as it ain't fer sale.

Time for a shower.

This tiny little $14 chip was the problem. I started a thread about it if you really care about the details.

Porsche-poor 10-04-2022 02:21 PM

Fun read. I'd be nervous about cutting near the mother board.
