Morning. I refuse to pour more fluids on the keyboard. Instead I think its time for fire.

Porsche-poor 08-04-2022 08:12 AM

Morning all. Feeling almost normal today.

About dang time!

No more abby-normal Dave. Now get back to work. ;)

Porsche-poor 08-05-2022 06:51 AM

Morning. Today I really wish I could just sleep in. Maybe tomorrow.

GH85Carrera 08-05-2022 07:27 AM

You can take the next two days off of work!

Porsche-poor 08-05-2022 07:30 AM

I asked the boss. She has things I need to catch up on. But that will depend on how much energy I have.

GH85Carrera 08-05-2022 08:25 AM

That is just unpaid labor. I usually have a list of honey-dos to do as well.

Porsche-poor 08-05-2022 08:27 AM

My fathers advice was always leave room at the top of the list that way you can write in "loose list" and do that first.

For many decades I worked at photo labs, we did our work from a work bag. On the front was the instruction on what the customer wanted, and inside were the original prints, negatives or transparencies to print or duplicate.

We had a time flow, and usually two or three days to get to that particular project, as we were always doing a previous project in order of arrival. On a constant basis we were asked by the front counter, is the "Smith" order ready yet? The customers all called and asked if it was done early. Most of the time the answer was "Not Yet" and it is like a prerecording in my brain now.

My wife asks all the time if I have a chore, task or something done. I often reply with "not yet" and it is almost like Déjà vu all over again. That phrase still is easy to say.

We get a week of upper 80s and low 90s and no triple digit stuff. We went almost two years with no 100s and over 24 of them so far this year.

Porsche-poor 08-08-2022 06:52 AM

Morning all. We are also back to almost normal for this time of year. Did a lot of puttering around the house this last weekend. Still not 100% so I do a chore then take a break and move on.

I had a weird spam problem yesterday. I started getting the same total BS fake message from "AT&T" that someone is trying to log in and change my password. It was pretty easy to see that the message was really from some fake email address. I double checked with the real AT&T and my account was secure, and it still needs two step authentication to log in, and all was fine.

I set up a rule and all the messages started going right to the spam folder, and it stopped notifying me that I had a new message. I ended up getting over 120 of the same BS email messages. I just let the rule do it's thing and when it stopped sending I flushed all 120 of them at once.

I can't figure out why they would send me the same thing over and over. Just one would get a stupid person to click on the link. 120 is just a giant red flag of a scam. It makes me happy to have Outlook and the ability to set up rules for email.

Oh well, who ever thought scammer were smart.

Porsche-poor 08-08-2022 01:26 PM

I get some of those. I t kills me to get one that says that someone tried to log into your Microsoft account or unusual sign in activity and you hover over the address and its some strange email from a Gmail account. Yeah let just click that really fast.

Morning. They let me back into the office today. Oh boy now the fun begins.

GH85Carrera 08-09-2022 10:46 AM

My dentist for the last 40+ years retired on my recently. The folks that bought his practice moved to an area of town even further and more inconvenient to get to.

I figured if I had to have a new dentist, I would get one close to home. There is a lady dentist just under a mile away. Close enough!

So I established as a new patient and got my initial exam. Golly what fun.

Nope. Had an interview today though that seemed to go well and is right in my specialty so who knows. I have been very picky where I apply. Wife has a new job and her old employer asked what it would take to keep her and she said she told them that 6 months ago. Her boss back then had told her that upper management said no, but later she found out he didn't even pass it up to them to see if it was possible. She has great benefits and gets as much PTO as she needs. At least with my time off I get the honey do list smaller.

GH85Carrera 08-10-2022 06:41 AM

It is good to have the options of being picky about the place you work. Your work history and career in IT should give you some advantage.

One of my local PCA friends got into IT early, and it was the days of long hours, and great pay. Then the outsourcing to India really hit, and he lost his job. He did and a billion other people did web design, but it is almost impossible to make a living at that.

Then his old company called him. They had been bit hard in the butt by the pitiful IT work of the India company, and every employee at the company was mad about the computer system poor or no functioning. Finally there was some major screw up, and the called him in to fix things. He asked for a ton of money expecting them to turn him down. He worked there for two years, got everything working like it should and retired. They still call him and he does consulting work for them, at a really jacked up high rate. He figures he is just getting his back pay.

Morning all. I had to steal a keyboard from another staff member. Now I have to hope he or she is not in today.

GH85Carrera 08-10-2022 07:21 AM

A logical person would assume you should get your own keyboard and mouse. Are the monitors all hooked up now?

It sounds like a Dilbert comic strip there. How hard is it to set up a computer to be functional?

Porsche-poor 08-10-2022 07:24 AM

Most people use the laptop but us CAD jockey's like a stand alone keyboard. All the monitors are now attached to docks and I have a great 3 display extended desktop to look at.
