Looks like mom is having surgery tomorrow sometime. With her age, the hand specialist does not think the bones will heal strongly enough on their own, so she gets a couple of permanent plates to help keep the two wrist bones together - she broke both. Hopefully she will be home Tuesday. She's got two of my beanie-baby animals keeping her company. No, I don't collect them. Mom gave them to me over the years when I was going through some hard times.

Hope she's feeling better soon Dave.
I broke my wrist skiing many years ago. Can't remember how long the cast was on.

She already broke this wrist once, snowboarding. Had to have metal pins sticking out of her arm, locking everything in place. She's doing fine, just wants to get out of the hospital.

I'll be relieved when she is out of surgery and awake. Mom has lung cancer. Her body has enough things to deal with, now the broken wrist. It seems that mom and dad are in good spirits, I'm the one who is an emotional wreck, just trying not to let it show externally.

Head's a lot better, Pete, thank you :)

Dave, your mom will be ok, don't worry too much. Stay positive. Good too hear that your parents are in good spirits, that will help a lot in her getting better. You just be there to back them up.

Fire truck that came to our rescue Saturday.
They had it parked on the sidewalk with the lights flashing the whole time. Luckily they didn't use the sirens on the way over...
We had a good laugh.

Our breakfast at work last Friday, we do this once a month.
Every last Friday someone else gets bread and stuff and we eat together. We have a good team here, I'll be sorry when the project ends.
It's not always with champagne, the older guy with the beard is going to retire soon, he brought the booze. (I didn't have any)

Wow, that bad huh?

I had been thinking I needed to email the other adviser asking some questions about the event in march. I will do that, his response, or lack thereof, should tell me a lot...

She'll be all right. Ortho surgery has gotten pretty spiffy. Regardless, I'll keep you and her in thoughts/prayers, any kind of surgery can be scary.

G, she's pretty dam cute!

Yes she is, and fun to be with.

(I removed the pic because I'm not sure she would appreciate it...)

Morning guys.
Dave I'll share my breakfast with your Mom, she'll feel much better.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1298280354.jpg

slodave 02-21-2011 01:26 AM

I'm not so sure of that... :D

Morning, Rick.

Rick V 02-21-2011 01:28 AM

Dewd, everybody loves Girl Scout, Smoas. :) (if not just more for me and that makes me happy.

Geronimo '74 02-21-2011 01:36 AM

Morning Rick!

You should eat more healthy.

Rick V 02-21-2011 01:40 AM

I usually do. I have a very low BMI, and my blood work numbers are always good. Just every once in a while I binge on crap. Breakfast for me (other then coffee) is usually an apple and a banana.

Geronimo '74 02-21-2011 01:54 AM

My BMI is a bit high, but it does not differentiate between fat and muscle mass...
It is only an indication for people with an average build.
I guess I'm a bit more muscular than average...

Rick V 02-21-2011 01:56 AM

Okay I was being modest. I am in very good shape and actually am very fit. Lost my 6-pack a while ago but still have a very flat, solid stomach. I am way too conceded to allow myself to become out of shape.

Geronimo '74 02-21-2011 01:58 AM

Being in shape is important, and also, less fat, less weight makes Porsches go faster! :D
