My uncle isn't doing so well. He's now 94 and dealing with a serious rash that covers most of his body. The poor bugger is not long for this earth.

Yea, somethings are worse than death.

My uncle was in hospice care dying of cancer. The nurse had to roll him over to change the sheets and he would scream in agony. They could not give him more morphine as it would be a lethal dose. They should have given him the lethal dose, as no one wants to die slowly in agony. He lasted another week.

Sorry for your uncle's suffering.

Morning all. Working from home today. Soon the office will require us to be in person 5 days a week. I am betting that will not fly very well.

We drove up to Enid yesterday to see the MIL. Always a big party time visiting a 90 year old.

I turned 381,000 mile on the El Camino on the drive back. The cruise control is acting wonky, and starts to surge and not hold a steady RPM. I guess I have to find a replacement module, or someone to repair the module. The had part is getting to it. It is in the area on the dash under the steering wheel, against the firewall. It just snaps into place but it takes both hands to remove one hand to hold the catch back, and the other hand to get it out. And not much space to work. It is super easy to get it back into place.

Off on a google search to find a new one.

Phew, the yard is mowed and edged once again. It is a 104 heat index and I just finished. I think I might possibly need a shower. My wife would not hug me, and I am a bit wet with sweat. Scratch that, I am soaking wet with sweat. Time for a nice cold shower.

I seem too be the default IT person in our family. We went to Enid, and my MIL wanted a new iPad, and she starts asking me about them. I said stop, I have a 10 year old iPad in my garage to play music from Pandora. That is all I use it for! I don;t know beans about them as I don't pay any attention to them.

I was curious about the Apple watch so I went to the web site to check them out. I figured a few hundred bucks for one that monitors heart rates, and look decent. I am not am NOT a 12 year old girl, and I don't like the plastic or rubber wrist bands. So stainless steel, heart monitors and the options that look like a man's watch. All I had to do was say buy, and for just $1,049 plus shipping it can be mine. Wow! Such a deal.

The weather is nice today. Low humidity, and much cooler. Of course I picked the hottest day of he week to mow.

I am going to the 40th annual Guthrie car show in Guthrie, OK on Saturday.

Gotta clean up the 911 a little, and go hang with a bunch of car guys.

I have been using Quicken for my personal finances since the late 1980s. Today I was reconciling some accounts and I clicked the wrong spot, and it reversed the sort by date column, and the oldest date was on the bottom, 1998. It was a check for something wee used to have, a magazine subscription to a computer mag. That was when I opened the account at my credit union. It has the other accounts that are older, in a hidden tab since I really don't care much about a close account.

Covid certainly changed the work experience. So many people were sent home to work, and now will not go back to the office. I know the commercial office space rental market is dying.

I fully understand, I miss commuting almost as much as I miss the dating scene. I can't imagine dating in 2023. I am so lucky to have a wife!

Bingo! I work with a lot of engineers who are onsite at clients 3-4 days a week and have no desire to be in the office for one day when they can work from home.

Yep, some jobs just don't need an office building to work from.

The tough part is getting corporate to believe they are really as productive at home as the office space. And they have to justify the Grand Poobahs fancy offices and a reason for them to be there is to keep the peons in line.

So true. Even when the bosses are here their doors are usually closed. Meanwhile if the two conference rooms are full then the noise is nuts in here. Not one single engineer is working with another on any one project so they all have calls going all day long. Drives me nuts.

My mean boss made me spend a couple of hours in the garage cleaning up the 911 for a car show tomorrow. The 40th annual Guthrie car show. It is just a top only, no judging except by popular vote by class. The boss will force me to sit by the car for hours chatting to people about it. I let kids it in it if their shoes are clean. I am not particularly shy, and find it easy to talk to strangers.
