The commute in this morning was sort of surreal. I drove for 3 miles before I saw another car. The traffic load was less than half normal. We have not had any snow, the conditions are perfect for the first day of winter, just cold. I have to assume it is all the schools have closed for Christmas. It is amazing that so many people work in for schools. I don't know what else it could be.

Had a blast on the way in, unplowed roads, single lane tracks, it was like driving a slotcar, only bouncy.
Got to work and I was the only one here, turning wrenches, answering phones and dealing with customers. Have I ever mentioned how much I detest my industry?

i was at my brother's place in hawaii a bit over a year ago. you can get a coconut porter there, from maui brewing company. it is divine.
so, i thought i'd make some for myself. two pounds of coconut, toasted in the oven, added to the secondary and left to steep for two weeks. damn, it is good.
