Look for any filled holes around the bridge/tail piece. If it's older, you never know if other components had been added or removed over the years. If you can, check the control cavity, check wiring, make sure it hasn't been butchered as well. Not that that can't be fixed, but just another cost. Backside, also check for belt buckle wear. Again, not the end of the world, but that shows it has been used and obviously, the finish has been worn through.

I forgot about the frets... Check for wear, low spots at certain frets (they would be random, just depends on the player). I've been meaning ro take a picture of my wires frets...

Since moving to this address a little over a year ago, we occasionally get mail addressed to previous tenants. One recent piece of mail came from some insurance company in Indiana. So I wrote "Return to Sender" and "No forwarding address" on the front and dropped it back into the mail (at the post office).

And got it back in my mailbox the next day.

F it. It's going in the trash can.

So Andy Alame, I don't know who you are. But you should probably tell Lincolnway Insurance Services your new address.

Just came across this ad over on F-chat:

Quote:
1991 BMW 850I V12 coupe with 152k original miles. Mechanically in good condition. Daily driver on nice days. Cosmetically needs a good deal of work. Slight work on front bumper, some rust on hood, rear seat needs recovered, sunroof doesn't work, headliner sagging, stereo works but no sound. I'm sure there are a few more items that need attention just don't come to mind. Recent belts, oil change, tune-up. No lights on the dash. Starts up every time. Brand new batteries. Lots of good about this car to overcome the bad. I recently purchased two project 308s and no longer have time for this. Comes with clean title and bill of sale. Asking $7000 or best offer. Will accept paypal for payment. Call 317-512-2870. located in indianapolis, indiana Please email cmiller69@msn.com for photos.
How do you let a grand car like an 850i get to this? Maybe not during the tenure of this owner, but someone in the past let the car deteriorate to this sad state. The car sounds like it needs to be put out of its misery, rather than sent on to another penniless owner. Who's now going to work his magic on a pair of 308s, apparently.

Have you looked into parts prices on 8series cars? Insane doesn't even begin to describe..... I wouldn't touch a 8 that was slightly edgy, at any price... Not sure I would touch one period. BMW has a way of over complicating things...

Hell, try changing a battery in a 3 series, you gotta be a damn acrobat....

8's are not only easy to work on, they are beautiful and well built cars. I would love to have one. It is all a matter of what you are used to working on I recon
