Thanks, Rick.

The motives for the decision eludes me, frankly. Other than the old praxis of courts to give the child to the mother if she is not overtly unsuitable which I could not prove to the judge.

That rule applies here as well, so much for equality among the sexes. Things will work out, you will see. I was a product of a broken home and a court award to a very bad mother and I turned out just fine, wait that may not be a good example, I'll get back to ya on that.

May I ask how your contact with your father has been?

When I was 13, and after beating the crap out of my mothers second husband (self defense) I left her and moved in with my dad, who only lives 8 miles from me now, so I would say pretty good. But to answer your question the way it was asked, it was not good. My mother (or shall we say the ***** that bore me) never let me see my father. She would always ship my sister and I off to the grandparents house when he would come up to visit. He was in Va and we were in Pa. My best advice is to do like my father did, keep your door open and don't use your child as a pawn in a power play. I was brought up to believe that my father was the worlds largest POS and the day I left I was told I would turn out just like him. That is not a bad thing. My dad always just went with the flow where my sister and I were concerned and counted the days until the truth would come out. Patience is something that you will have to have plenty of here and I hope your EX isn't going to ty and keep Hannah from you.

Thanks a lot for sharing, Rick!

They have moved to a town 30 miles away. I will have Hannah every other weekend. I am just afraid, as the years pass by, that Hannah will be so rooted in her new place, with school, friends and activities, that she will see me as a stranger that she feels the obligation to visit a couple of times a month. That once she has reach an age where the court pays a lot of attention to what she wants for herself, she will no longer be interested in moving to me. I hope I am wrong.

You have the advantage here, a daughter and her father is a close and undescribale bond, There will come a time when she wants to do her own thing, sans parents, but that is not you, that is the age in general. You two will be okay once the dust of the new has settled.

Watch the GTR blow a trans if he takes the launch control off, and it won't be under warranty

Sorry, Markus. You get to see her on a semi-regular basis. You will always be your daughter's daddy. Treat her like you would normally, and she'll always remember that.

FWIW, you can borrow my little girl for the next 15 minutes. I just sent her to her room for timeout for throwing a Rubik's cube at her brother.
