Last night, I went with some friends out to a new restaurant, and noticed that the waiter who took our order carried a spoon in his shirt pocket. It seemed a little strange. When the busboy brought our water and utensils, I noticed he also had a spoon in his shirt pocket. Then I looked around I saw that all the staff had spoons in their pockets.

When the waiter came back to serve our soup I asked, "Why the spoon?"

"Well," he explained, "the restaurant's owners hired a consulting firm to revamp all our processes. After several months of analysis, they concluded that the spoon was the most frequently dropped utensil. It represents a drop frequency of approximately 3 spoons per table per hour. If our personnel are better prepared, we can reduce the number of trips back to the kitchen and save 15 man-hours per shift."

As luck would have it, I dropped my spoon and he was able to replace it with his spare. "I'll get another spoon next time I go to the kitchen instead of making an extra trip to get it right now."

I was impressed! I also noticed that there was a string hanging out of the waiter's fly.

Looking around, I noticed that all the waiters had the same string hanging from their flies. So before he walked off, I asked the waiter, "Excuse me, but can you tell me why you have that string right there?"

"Oh, certainly!" Then he lowered his voice. "Not everyone is so observant... That consulting firm I mentioned also found out that we can save time in the restroom. By tying this string to the end of our "you know what," we can pull it out without touching it and eliminate the need to wash our hands, shortening the time spent in the restroom by 76.39 percent."

"Hhmmm...After you get it out, how do you put it back?" I asked.

"Well," he whispered, "I don't know about the others... but I use the spoon."

my department at work is about to implode. LOL! i think the next few weeks are going to be really interesting and fun as administration wrings their hands uselessly and attempts to micromanage the department. frankly, it has already begun.

on a more positive note, i am getting emails from headhunters. i am not sure how, exactly, they got my information, but i have been putting out resumes all over the place.

Thought I would log on earlier today, busy sitting here "dreaming" doing work stuff, and thought I would see who was awake.

Jeff I'm a loggie, supply mustering. Alice Springs? Must be hard on the paintwork, Canberra on the other hand is very mild on the cars. Ours are always garaged and their paint is holding up very well, especially considering their ages, 51, 42, 40 and a young and spritely 11 year old, and most of them have all been here in Canberra. None have had a respray, and their paintwork is still looking good.

The "woman" in the sweater, mmm let me think, no not real, and the whole idea of rings on the "bits" sounds bloody painful.

Last week of the school holidays, thank god, they all go back to school and University next week. Cooked lovely scones for lunch today for them all, herb, ham and cheese and plain with heaps of cream, all gone. Sent a photo to the hubby who is at work to show him what he is missing out on, and he said they can't possibly be mine they looked too good. Bloody cheek!!

Yep, it was that perfect temp for a drive.
A few nice cars.
Two 964 RS, both in black.
These are rare in Australia.

Very - oxidizing, pealing/blistering clearcoat, etc. Cars are under cover as much as possible. Up side is that they'll never rust.

This aging thing is a PIA. I wish my eyesight was what it was just a few years ago
0.002" parts are getting real small to see these days.

Must be time for a new prescription.

Hey, I'm still at work. It's not beer o'clock for another hour.

Actually got a dilemma today....do I change out my cam belt while it's a cooler day (35C), or pick more grout out between the tiles in my ensuit shower (discovered I really hate this regrouting job - but not willing to pay someone to do it) while it's cooler, or seal a leak on my carport roof before it rains next (I think I'm on borrowed time here) while it's cooler, or veg out with a beer and put it all off until the weekend?

I suppose I could do any of them and still have a beer going
