I'm not talking about the rubber that makes them tougher. So many manufacturers are putting this very thing coating on the phone to make them grippy. All it really does is get nasty looking from any time you touch it that your hands aren't perfectly clean, and as the phone ages they get this sticky feel to them..

If you want to be on the jobsite, put it in a case. Get any of the otterbox cases for your chosen device, they are hands down the toughest.

News flash.

Apple makes phones
AT&T, Spring, t-mobile do not

So to make that comparison.. well.... it's ... how can i put this

dumb.

Stijn, by pointing that out I am saying I am familiar with the other devices on the market. I have played with the top of the heap Android and Blackberry devices. I have configured them for customers. I have fielded customer complaints(many).

As far as service, there are no HTC Stores. If your HTC phone has an issue you take it back to ATT, or call. Either way its a hassle, its a long drawn out process, and you end up feeling shafted in the end. If you have an issue with an apple product, you take it to an APPLE store, and they fix it. No questions asked, they just fix it.

I like Apple, for the same reasons I like Pelican Parts. Quality merchandise, and excellent service. Many times I can find parts cheaper elsewhere, but I buy them here because I know what I'm getting, and that it will be supported after the sale.

If that makes me a fanboy, well then so be it. I feel no need to apologize to you that there are things in life that make me happy, or that things work out well for me. Try not being a grumpy SOB all the time, maybe youd like it.....

Again Sid you do NOT have to go to AT&T to get phones that use their network. You do NOT have to deal with AT&T at all except to pay the bill.
But with Apple you DO have to deal with Apple, and for me that is the issue.

Rick, I've had less than stellar experiences as a retailer, and dealing with retailers. They always want to pass the cost on, and never want to be responsible for the device, only the plan.

Remember I worked at a radioshack, thats how I know ATT, Sprint, and Tmobile. I'm familiar with how all of them handle issues, and its not great.

I did not buy my phone through apple, I bought it through our ATT corporate contract. Yet when I have an issue, I take it to an apple store, similar to if I took a new car to a dealership for warranty work. My point is that apple has a very user friendly warranty system in place. They don't hassle you, they just make it right.

Me a grumpy SOB?

That totally and positively proves you don't know the basics of me.

I never asked you to apologize for anything, just admit that you are in fact an Apple Fanboy, which you just did.

Next.

My grumpy SOB comment was broad, not just on that topic...

And speaking of dumb, I said the first time you accused me, that if that makes me a fan boy, so be it.

So learn to read....

If you would eat something that was bashed with 5,000lbs of steel running at least 45 miles an hour you are insane. The meat is ruined, it is so bruised it isn't fit for anything but buzzards.

The geek squad covers my phone, AT&T deals with the plan. if I have an issue, I know exactly who I need to deal with. AND I don't need to deal with the all consuming parasite known as apple. Sorry Sid I will NEVER like their software. I do like the devices though.
Apple is for people who simply don't want to have any control over what they are or are not allowed to have or use. You know this.

Actually it does. Trust me, the meat is ruined. Especially if it makes it to the underside of the tires

I kinda doubt that, Stew around here , typically uses the lowest quality meat there is..
Then stew it till it falls apart.. But i'll have to take yer word for it , cause there ain't no deer to run over here.. and B-1B isn't really the right equipment to run em over in the first place.

I've eaten Wabbits i ran over though(long time ago)... taste just fine, but then i didn't put my tire on em.. they just headbutted my front spoiler.

Well that kind of force caused the tissue to explode, it gets full of blood and the adrenaline is burned into the meet. You can actually taste the difference in a deer that was shot while running vs one that was grazing. Then like Sid says the guts explode internally. Bile and poo all swimming around inside of a carcass. It is no good.

I've never had an issue with it. At all. I've always been on ATT, and they have the best coverage out here, so the carrier thing isn't an issue. Now as far as breaking the software, I did it once, and I thought the phone was worse with the jailbreak. The good thing about apple is they release products that work, and work well. When people have issues, it is due to doing something the device wasn't meant to do. Now ATTs stupid plans and tethering rules piss me off way more.

And whats wrong with their software? Its more intuitive, and works faster. That simple.

As far as the dictating carriers? Thats been around as long as the cell phone biz. All the manufacturers play that game. It just makes financial sense to play it.

Sid, we are not discussing carriers, never have been it is apple. Okay it is like this, if I want to run a program on my phone I simply install it, you on the other hand can only use apple approved programs. So far as speed goes, I'll put my LG nitro up against your 4gs any day. Before you tell me to bring it on, do your research and remember I have removed all the pre-installed programming I don't want or use.

Okay, I gotta get in this Apple thing. I have owned and used Apple since the Apple ][ and it ran DOS 3.1. Not Windows or Mac, but Microsoft DOS. The difference in Apple was they had their own BASIC programed in the roms, you did not have to load it. If you wanted to get into machine language programing you used Microsoft's Assembly Language Compiler.

When Apple came out with the Lisa, then Macintosh they changed to the GUI environment. To manage all the GUI stuff they used ROM routines like their Apple Basic in the Apple ][. It was called the toolbox and was one of the first computers to use object oriented programming to access those routines. At the time many software developers scoffed at the added complexity of object oriented programing. NOW you can't hardly find a programmer that doesn't use it.

One of the things about the toolbox and the object oriented environment is that it standardized the user interface and peripherals. If you didn't follow the Apple guidelines for using the toolbox routines, chances were very high that your software would break on the next system update. One of the reasons that Mac software is less problematical than Windows. Apple controlled the environment so the software just worked. There was a saying I saw happen so many times...With Windows you spend your time getting your computer to work, with Mac you spend your time doing your work on your computer.

When they went came out with the iPhone they took the toolbox idea a step or two further by sandboxing (locking ) settings and screening software to insure not only that software developers followed the guidelines, but they also wanted to insure that the software made available was both kid safe, and did not violate copyright laws. The latter a legal thing to keep from being made responsible in a law suite because they were part of the distribution.

Before I got an iPhone I had several different Smart Phones. None of them worked as well as my iPhone does in ease of making calls, and managing email (what a smart phone is for.)

So, if you like to fiddle with computer stuff, get something else. If you just want to use your devices, get Apple.

And yes, I have both Windows XP and 7 running on my Mac. I only use them when troubleshooting Office problems for users I support.

Oh yeah, and before you get all anti-apple just think about this...
Apple set the specifications for Word, Excel, and Explorer when they contracted Microsoft to write them. That was before those programs of even Windows 1.0 existed and because of the work Microsoft did for Apple in writing Office for Apple for the Mac, that is where they got Windows from.
