All I know is I do not like all the rituals and such one must go through and I don't want a girl who is excessively into religion. But that makes me stuck in the middle. I want to break out of my shell and meet women but that outside world can be a scary place coming from where I am.

I do not know her well enough to know whether she has a SO.

On the one hand I do not want to offend her. On the other I feel that no one has ever really been interested in me so why should I be so arrogant as to think she is more than just a casual friend?

I'll agree with you about married priests, actually, priests with legitimate real world experience in general would be a good thing.
I don't want to parf up this thread, but suffice it to say, I (and many others) no longer regard the catholic church as a religious institution.......they've crossed that line far to many times and acting in a christian manner seems to be the furthest thing from their principles. I still consider myself a Christian, but I will never again set foot in a catholic church.

I'm with you on keeping the par in parf.

I really don't know enough about the issues to discuss them anyway. My experience with the Church has always been good. Went to Catholic schools and those seemed pleasant enough in retrospect.

Plus I am not passionate enough about the Church to defend it. I just keep on doing what I am doing.

I wonder how many of my classmates stuck to the principles they were drilled on? Probably not many. Which kind of makes me feel alone or special?

The problem arises when the priest dies. Who gets his stuff? If he marries, then there'll likely be heirs. If he's forced to remain celebate (you know, supposedly just like Christ), then no heirs. Church gets all his "stuff" when he dies.

How do the protestants handle that?

A (the?) girl on the FSAE Electric team (Sophmore doing brakes and she is great at organizing stuff) is a preacher's daughter. She only mentioned it when I asked about where she had lived and she talked about all the places. She's seen lots of the country. I asked if her Dad was in the military but no, preacher she said.

protestant clergy are not beholden, heir-wise, to the 'church'.

were you asking me what the reaction was from the gals when i asked about their friends?

catastrophe. in one case, totally laughable, as i had ZERO interest. and then she went on to make it a public thing, trying to embarrass me, etc. i am unembarrassable, so that backfired. plus, i put her in her place, very publicly.

the other.... not good. and the gal i was asking about was not worth my time. whereas the girl i offended was very much worth my time.

People always told me I would love college and now I realize I do. What you get out of it is entirely up to you. You live by your own rules largely. If you slack off you suffer the consequences. If you work hard you reap the rewards. You have the opportunity to meet lots of interesting people and expand your world view. There are lots of interesting and very intelligent professors to talk to as well.

Tripping on some Led Zepp just now I think. No Quarter. Doing the iTunes shuffle.

Yes, I was asking.

Hahaha.

And I'm sorry to hear that.

I think first I will just ask for an introduction. But maybe she will read into that too much. But maybe not. But I need to start acting, not just waiting. Argh. This is so confusing. Does she think the thoughts I think are the thoughts I really think I thought? I think? This feels like a causality loop.

I grew up in a house full of happy clappers - they all still are, I'm regarded as the black sheep.

I found church an excellent place to pick up, it was about the only thing I got out of it.

It was amazing how many quiet, sweet, polite girls actually banged like a dunny door.

I actually never saw any girls my age at church that interested me. Mostly old people. And any girls my age that are there I figure must be crazy as well- just crazy about religion.

OK, I should probably shut up now and let some others talk. See ya.
