This weekend the youngest turns 15. With that begins the next segment of drivers education.

Think my parents were glad they didn't have to teach me to drive since they had Driver's Ed in school. My dad did help me buy my first 4 cars.

In 76 got a 68 Ford Country Squire Station Wagon for $1.00.
In 77 after graduation got a 71 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus (sleeper hot rod) for $1400.
In 78 got a 71 Audi 100LS for $1000 (date car).
Summer of 78 got a 64 Ford Window Fan for $600. (used for lawn mowing business, no trailer) also came with a new set of tires I put on the Audi.

A little after getting the Van gave the Station Wagon to my oldest brother.

After college all I had left was the Audi and it didn't run, sold the Plymouth and Van (no student loan).

Started working and traded the Audi that didn't run for a 77 Cutlass Salon that did.

Glad my Dad helped me get the $1 junker wagon. Not only was it cheap, didn't have to worry about wrecks. In fact, had two, the engine caught fire once and you couldn't even tell. Told everyone if it ever got stuck or quit running I would just walk off an leave it.

Thuy's dad is back staying with us... Health is not good. Getting advance directives and living wills to get stuff in order. The forms for this stuff are all online, I encourage all of you guys to do this now so it is taken care of in case of emergency. Thuy and I are going to do it now as well, so it is set in stone.

Need to get estates in order too. You never know when your ticket is going to get punched...

Just went through drivers Ed for the youngest last year, His first truck is a cool old Dodge D150 with the 225 slant 6, we are already looking at his next one, probably a V-8 4x4 Ford F150 or F250.

My first car in 1981 was a Green Pinto wagon with wood on the sides, traded that in 1982 for a 70 Lemans with a 350 and a big back seat. Soon as I graduated, I got a 68 Dodge Dart GTS with a 383....cool car, would LOVE to have that car back now.

That slant six is about as bullet proof as they get. I used to see them at the NASCAR races and fairs where they would be running at idle with no oil pan and I would tell the dude that that engine would still be running whether they treated it or not.

In Oklahoma the on-line legal forms are not really legal. A judge just override them. They are only useful to put down your wishes to a lawyer. Of course the laws were all written by lawyers so they added that.

Many states are the same.

When I was getting close to driving age my dad game me an interest free load to buy any car I could afford. He did pay for the insurance and my room and board.

I paid 100% of all costs for the car. I was 25 before I ever borrowed one of my parent's cars. I had to haul more than one passenger. After that I don't remember ever borrowing one of their cars.

Today is almost a chamber of commerce day in OKC. 72 degrees and blue skies. It is windy as heck so not quite a perfect day. I drove my 911 today just because. One of the regulars at the autocross was driving by and saw a clean 911 and stopped in to see who owned it. He was surprised to see me here. Then the UPS driver came in. He drives a new Honda sedan of the appliance type but with ricer parts. It is actually a nice car and he does come to the autocross as well. Both of them like the new wheels.

We did all the living will stuff for just about everyone in the family with lawyers back in 2000 when Mom went under the knife for Cancer. Put the House and anything of value in both our names so if one of us passed the other got it without having to pay for inheritance.

My first car was 1966 Corvair. My Dad had bought it to fix up for himself but never had the funds. He told me I could have it if I got a job which I did. I drove it my junior year of high school until I smoked the transmission doing burnouts. It would only spin the tires on gravel roads but it would do it........eventually.

We saw an interesting site tonight. A new Charger cop car with top lights that look like they came off a mid 70s car. Bubblegum machines were the nickname i believe.

It's been a long time that the low profile light bars have been used.

The AZ attorney general publishes forms for healthcare power of attorney, DNR etc. you can download them, fill them out, and notarize them, and then file them with the Secretary of State. Makes it pretty easy. The last step isn't necessary but it's free so why not? The big thing for us is getting all that on record with the hospital and doctors.

Morning all.

It looks like a pretty day here today and Mrs Carrera has already told me she has some point and grunt chores for me. It's too soon to dig holes for plants. It will be a surprise.

G'day Peebles

Just in after another night out on the turps. So much for trying to slow down and have a quiet year. Maybe next week.
