It has been a busy day. ALL the helpdesk people took today off for various reasons. I get to cover the company of 400 computers remotely! Oh boy. After noon the boss said I could just put a note on their ticket that someone would get back to them Monday.

I couldn't afford CAD software when I was in JR high so I wrote my own. It could even show the perspective view.

I took FORTRAN in college.

We used MATC-CAD in high school and I don't remember the name of the one in college. I just remember doing airplane posters instead of my homework. It was nice being able to use the pucks for CAD when I got to college.

Ah, the good old days.

My daughter took the ethical hacking class and now uses the info to freak out her boy classmates.

The boy talked me into playing a computer game last night that he says is awesome. It is a real time strategy game called "Command and Conquer". I laughed and said OK but I need to look at the manual first to see what the units are and do and how to group them. Surprisingly I did find the PDF online for it. Yuri's Revenge was what, 2000/2001?

I have not played a computer game in years. I use the xbox to watch movies and stream content.

We do when it is too miserable to be outside. Mostly racing and air combat stuff. The C&C game was part of a Humble Bundle a year or more ago and while graphically dated it seems to have aged well. It is like a kid saying he found this awesome car and when you see it, it turns out to be a 914.

I think I paid $7 for a bunch of EA games for the kids with the bundle.

Command and Conkher sounds familiar. Is that were you have tanks to represent troops and after you take over cities you can have them build armies, fighters, bombers, troop carriers, and other boats and stuff?

Real time strategy. This one you have troops plus all you mentioned. Not one I would normally play, but he was SO excited about it. Hey, he is 7 and there are worse things he could play.

Nephew and I played it using networked computers so it was kinda like battleship on steroids. It makes random land masses, islands and oceans. It kind of randomly picks where it starts you and you don't see any of the land or seas until you fly over them. We played for several hours and never did run into each other. It had started us on opposite sides and put a land mass right down the middle that was wider than a fighter flight.

We finally gave up and looked at the board. It was pretty funny were were both amassing huge amounts of troops and planes to attack the middle land mass. We were both expecting the other to roll in so we could trounce on them, but were just far enough apart we didn't discover each other.

Happy Saturday!

Ran into another Pelican on my FB drum page. He has a very nice 84 Targa with a drumkit that almost matches in color.

Headed over to the East side of MI to see my friend perform in a play of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Then, if the wife is cool with it we will go check out a band. The drummer is a friend from FB. Yeah, I know. Facebook, Facebook, Facebook. It can be full of garbage but I am making some great contacts in the music world.

We haven't been out on a "date" in a very long time. The kids are staying with the inlaws for the night. Except for the long drive, it should be a fun night. I may even get to jam a tune with the band.

Am I an idiot?

Hadn't been driving the Cayenne S for a few weeks.
Drove the S while getting headlights on Turbo fixed.
The interior lights stopped coming on when opening the doors on the S.
Made appointment to have the dome lights looked at.
Also noticed a faint oil smell after a trip to the store.
The morning I opened the door to drive it to the shop the dome lights started working.
Took it in anyway and added having them check for oil leaks in case it got worse.

They determined that while just setting the battery had gotten low enough it caused the dome light issue and once charged enough it is back to normal. Probably some parasitic battery drain. Probably wouldn't have happened if I locked it while setting because after so long it disconnects the battery until you unlock with a key.

The faint oil smell was was a very small leak from the valve cover gaskets and said I was hypersensitive to notice and that there was also a small exhaust leak in the corrigated down pipe on the passenger side (considered and expensive exhaust repair). Told me both were barely noticeable and should just leave them to the next owner (and they knew they might be buying the car as they they would make good on the offer of $8000 towards my 928 repair if not sold by then).

Now for the idiot part. I had both issues fixed to the tune of $1200 on a car I am asking $8995 for instead of just lowering my asking price to $7995. Got some kind of sickness that I want everything to be right when I sell something because that is how I would want to buy something.

There is a new scam ripping off people that list their cars for sale. The supposed buyer asks for a history report like CarFax. Only they won't accept any reports telling you they don't trust them and give you the name of a report they trust. That they want you to pay for the report because they can't afford it or feel like if it was negative they wasted their money. And of I pay for it and can give it to other buyers. Besides it's less than a Carfax report.

I've had 4 of these scammers acting like potential buyers and the reports they requested I've never heard of. Didn't fall for it because I've always paid for my own carfax reports. 4 attempts is just too many incidents to not be a scam.

Told them that nobody ever supplied me with a history report on any of the cars I was looking at. So, if they only trusted a particular report, I suggest they buy it. And if they were interested in a Pre-Purchase Inspection, PPI I would happily give them names of shops in the area, but they would have to make the arrangements including paying for the PPI. Oh, and for their information, I hate scammers even if it is for less money than a Carfax report.

There, I feel better now.
Had another one try this morning. The only question he asked about the car is if it had been in a accident.

I know my CayenneS has a good report as I got a free one when I first listed with ebay. The free report went away when I relisted the car.

Wow what a pretty day out there. 88 degrees and low humidity and low wind. In the. Sun it is hot, but in the shade it is NICE. I HAD to take the Porsche out for a little drive. Tomorrow is back to normal temps but to have a wonderful weather on a Saturday is weird. Normally it is a crappy weekend and a beautiful Monday weather wise.

The rain let up mid morning here and it's cloudy, but comfortable outside. The planting beds all have mushrooms growing in them. At least we have 5-6 days off before the next rains.

We got to hang out with our son & DIL this morning thru early afternoon...walking around the marina and going out to a hole in the wall Mexican joint for lunch.

Went to a Mexican joint this evening. Have gone there for years. Loved their Carne Guisada. It was my favorite Mexican dish. This is the 2nd time in a row I've ordered the Carne Guisada and got something different. Before it was beef tips cooked in a special salsa with onions, tomatos, and jalapeņos. This time it was beef tips, but cooked in their regular red salsa with only onions. And this time the Cilantro Salsa was completely different as well, just a small amount of cilantro stirred into their regular red salsa. Before it was served warm with completely different consistency and flavor than their red salsa. Before thought both were delicious. Not so much any more. Don't think I will be going back.
