OK. You could start with the landing gear.

Sure, don't go and pick an easy one, you do the one that has the bent wing, gear that rotates as it retracts backwards and has the turtleneck instead of the bubble canopy.

Jacob likes the Charlie model that has the 20mm cannons so he can reach out further when we do our LAN air combat. When your bomber has defensive arms of .50" or less and he sits out that between 3/4 of a mile and a mile out it sucks trying to lob those little projectiles out there.

Closest I got to having an R/C Warbird looked like an F-14 Tomcat, but it was not a ducted fan, was before they had the actual R/C sized jets, and the wings were fixed in the swept back position. It had a prop on the nose and the engine cylinder kinda stuck out the side of the nose. It was still fun with retractable tricycle landing gear and doors though. Up down, up, down, up, down. End of life was a landing incident involving a railroad tie caused by the high stall speed and the afore mentioned retractable landing gear not responding to steering inputs. Stripped the landing gear and gear doors right off.

Morning all.

Digging around on the internet yesterday at different computer sources I found several that woould be nice. We would need a contract with the federal government to get to charge enough to afford the system, It had 4TB of RAM, 4 Nivida GTX 1080 16 GB cards, multiple SSD drives and 2 of the newest bleeding edge Intel CPUs and it had a total of 128 cores, with 256 total threads. All for a meager 52 grand. It of course has full water cooling and likely dims the lights when it is fired up.

I did find a computer that is pretty nice for $620 that is supposed to be here tomorrow. I will have fun getting it setup and ready to be our little slave.

Does that $52K computer come with a Frankenstein's lab type jacob's ladder as part of the power supply? Maybe I'm thinking of the Steam Punk version that also has the superfluous dials, vacuum tubes, and blinking lights.

I think the funniest part is as I remember 2TB of RAM is the limit of what Windows 10 Pro 64 bit can read. I wonder if they use some Enterprise version that extends that. It was kinda drooling on the 918 last week. Totally out of reach but really cool to look at.

That computer is probably used for virtualization so it can have a ton of RAM but each virtual machine only uses a portion of it.

I imagine you would have to have a large SSD for the swap drive if it were a physical machine and OS.

The limit of a 32 bit operating system is 4 terabytes. The is as much as the 32 bit system can access.

The limit of a 64 bit operating system is 2048 petabytes. Now whether or not the hardware can access that much ram is a different matter.

What Windows 10 pro 64 has as the limit may be set by what MS thinks will be the maximum hardware capabilities.

I know on the Mac users can put bigger memory sticks in the slots than recommended and access twice as much ram as the specs say they can.

Glen we really like the @xicomputer.com before we got sold. They were able to custom configure computers to our specs.

32 bit is 4 GB RAM.

64bit Win7 Pro I believe is 192GB because MS. Don't know about 10.

I will check them out.

The big workstation we have now was one I built from parts and many long days on Newegg.com. The have a wish list that I could put the parts list together, and do the research on. Finding the ideal motherboard, CPU and memory, then the case and power supply to all be compatible and really work was a tedious process. In the end it save a little money but the best part was a machine with zero bloatware, except the crap Microsoft insists on loading. I have wondered if the enterprise versions of Windows avoid the games and social media crap. Windows is convinced I am setting up a laptop for a college kid. That may be a major market but it is not what I want.
