true romance was classic, the best part was the scene about how to tell when a man is lying. you gotta love this.
plan on seeing this for a laugh this week.

+1. Guess I'm not a fan of "stylistically excessive" violence.

Come now Rick & DM, there can be no disputing that Pulp Fiction is one of the greatest 100 films ever made.

It's on virtually every such top 100 list in existance.

I'd put it in the top 25 myself.

It's in the top 10 all time guy/action/crime movies genre, easily.

Virtually every featured character in that movie is iconic, each with numerous quotable lines. If only all movies were so damn good.

Seriously, who can ever forget the watch scene?

Absolutely +1 on this.

Heck, I'm no fanboy of QT, but I would easily give this a top five rating.

Right up there with Chinatown for groundbreaking film making. (IMHO)

I think I saw Pulp Fiction only once. I really don't see why QT is considered so good. He does nothing for me. I'd not buy Pulp Fiction if it were in the bargain bin. It was ok, but didin't make want to own it. The movies I can never get sick of are Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco, Fletch, Goodbye Lenin, Lives of Others, Sergeant York, that kind of stuff.

I think the only Tennessee connection with Brad Pitt's character is that Tarantino was born in Knoxville and there's probably no one that knows film genre history better than Tarantino.
I liked Inglorious Basterds, Hans Landa is an amazing character, and Christoph Waltz deserves and Academy Award for his performance.
The only thing that bothered me was the spaghetti western style music, but that's what he was going for..

You really owe it to yourself to give that movie anohter try. You might've just been having a bad day when you saw it or something.

Butch: "Are you OK?"
Marcellus: "Nah man, i'm pretty fking far from OK."

LOL....LOVE IT!

Personally I thought RD and TR were great but D2D was garbage. There was so much potential in the first part of that movie, but then the vampire stuff started and it became a parody of itself. Downright stupid (and disappointing). Spy Kids 3D was less embarrassing to watch.

I'll see IB probably for the same reason I saw (and really enjoyed) Defiance. It's nice to see Jews fighting back once in a while, even if it's only fiction. For the past 2k +/- years the Jews have been metaphorically taking it in the a$$ from everybody--it is good knowing that the Makabim spirit still lives in some of them.

Not to start a war, but according to Wikipedia he's from Shawnee, Oklahoma.... if so, that would account for his strained attempt at Southern.

I missed IROC's post... thanks for clearing up where Mr. P is from.

I really didn't like Dusk till Dawn the first time I saw it--thinking how hokey and over-the-top it was, then I saw it again and realized that is what he and Rodriguez were going for--a campy B-movie with action, gore, vampires, and nudity and it grew on me. I love the scene where Clooney was going to get bounced from the bar and the heavy says 'I'm going to count to three" and Clooney replies, "no, I'M going to count to three"

I thought it a waaay better homage to drive-in fare than "Grindhouse".

Eric, i agree. D2D was deliberately campy, as was Kill Bill.

Both films mocked the genre they were simultaneously paying homage too.

I thought it was pretty good. I like QT films for the most part because they are different. The 1 hour and 53 minutes flew by.

QT makes movies that always leave me with the opposite of a warm sense of feeling good. Yes, they have a certain stylistic appeal, irony and humor but there is also something superficial, cold hearted and creepy about them. I have yet to see a character in his movies that I really like and can relate to.

I realize this makes me sound like an old fart longing back to the times of "Sound of music"..

Snipe - I think my favorite quotes come from the scene where they're scooping the 'debris' from the car after the Wolf arrives. That and the "What does Marcellus look like Brent? Wha? What does Marcellus Wallace look like? Does_he_look_like_a_*****?" Hahahaha .... I love that movie. If I didn't have so much work to get done tonight I'd go watch it again.

"I think this is going to be my masterpiece".

I suspect QT was telling us all something.

I wonder if the foreign production company was because some of the subject matter is still 'sensitive' here in PC USA? Knowing the heritage of most of Hollywoods' senior studio execs made it a tough sell.....

It was classic Tarantino. Well done!

Saw it last night with 4 guy friends. I haven't seen much of QT's work but this exceeded my expectations. We alternated between laughing and gasping at some of the violence. It was the best movie our guys "movie club" has been to in a while.
