Well....more bad news from the lawyers.....

Despite the offensive team crowding the sidelines in violation of the rules AND being tackled AFTER the whistle by 2 linebackers, I have no right to recover any damages.....something about "Assumation of Risk" for being stupid enought by being out there at the first place.....

Joe Bob 11-12-2009 07:21 AM

The radiator shop can't fix the cooler, but claims a welder can fix it...

Joe Bob 11-12-2009 07:39 AM

Beginning of another fun filled day....watching Netflixs in the shop with Sasha the wonder dog.....

Dealing with my agency/job is a PITA, they have delayed submitting my payroll records which delays my Insurance payments....so I'm getting nasty calls from the doctors billing department....disability isn't easy...

Oh well, guess it just means a bigger check when they finally get their collective crap together....

And you were going after the coaches, players, parents, school district, two kids who "tackled" you? Gheez, a shame you can't sue someone, you'd think in this day and age where someone else is always responsible for our problems you'd find some deep pocket.

Joeaksa 11-12-2009 07:43 AM

Unless they try to pay you with IOU's!

It will work out eventually but they sure do not make it any easier.

Joe Bob 11-12-2009 07:46 AM

I was going after the League, the rule was instituted at THEIR insistence as a safety factor. I threw four flags during that game for sideline violations. I was hurt because they were breaking the rules.....where am I at fault here?

I've lost my job, 10K in game fees, my wife filed for divorce on me because I'm not the same guy she married and I'm sitting in my workshop watching movies and debating semantics with twits....

Follow my drift?

Cdnone1 11-12-2009 07:54 AM

....disability isn't easy...

You have no idea.

Steve

The worst part is being alone....your friends think you are a pariah, no one from work gives a flying Fuch, your creditors don't give a damn that you are getting screwed by your HR department, the Doctor's assistants think it's funny when you run out of pain meds and they "lose" the fax to the pharmacy for refills...

Cry me a river.
Reffing games, loading plywood into your Porsche in a handicapped spot, riding your bikes around.
You have no idea what living life with a disability really is.
You'll get no sympathy from me.

I'm out of reffing;
I had help loading and unloading the plywood, all I did was watch;
I used to ride 200 miles a week, now I can barely manage 5 on flat ground;
I sleep on a flat pad on the floor because I can't tolerrate the bed;
I've lost an additional 20lbs from the inability to hold down solid foods.

YES, I know what disability is.

BLEW911 11-12-2009 09:46 AM

Mike, It sounds like it's time to start the social security disability merry go round. It is retro active to last day worked. Takes quite a while and you can expect to be turned down. Almost everyone is. Then win on appeal (with your SS disability lawyer). It's all just paperwork to get started. You paid into SS right? Unless you don't want your money....go for it.:cool:

Joe Bob 11-12-2009 09:48 AM

Our agency doesn't particpate in Social Security....we have a private long term disability contract....

Joeaksa 11-12-2009 10:35 AM

Friend of mine is going through the SS disability process right now. Been turned down the first time and now on the second round. It aint fun but keeps him out of trouble. He will get it eventually.

Mike, you did not have to pay into SS? Sure hope that your program is in better shape than SS is, but then you know the way they run things in Cali...

Joe Bob 11-12-2009 10:48 AM

Nope...not for 20 years....

McLovin 11-12-2009 10:49 AM

Sorry to see things have gone so sideways for you.

Joeaksa 11-12-2009 10:53 AM

Hope that agency is in better shape than our SS is.

BLEW911 11-12-2009 11:01 AM

I had no idea you could "opt out" of social security. I've always thought participation was mandatory even when self employed. In fact I still do.

sammyg2 11-12-2009 12:05 PM

Gubmint employees don't do SS.

Joe Bob 11-12-2009 12:23 PM

When part of the County we were in SS. When we became a special district we voted to withdraw...so, not all gubmont employees are out....

But you paid in, in the past. You are still eligible.

BLEW911 11-12-2009 01:36 PM

If you paid into SS in the past and meet a minimum of some sort you are eligible for disability benefits. I am aware of someone that suprisingly met the minimum and is now receiving around $750/month.

Joe Bob 11-13-2009 04:25 AM

Just emailed my Workman's comp lawyer...will look into it....thanks

Joe Bob 11-17-2009 10:39 AM

Leg is finally healing.....

Joeaksa 11-17-2009 10:53 AM

Rub some fresh Aloe on that, will make it look a lot better and heal faster.

Joe Bob 11-17-2009 10:55 AM

Been doing that....

Yeah that sucks but just cause you weren't at fault, doesn't mean someone else is or that they should pay for your "life on disability". I might be a twit but the thought that everyone should be able to sue some organization or person because they had an accident goes against my grain. You were reffing a frickin football game for *(&*&S sake. Did you think that was a risk free activity? If you didn't sign some type of waiver I'd be surprised. If you didn't, you can bet they will require that going forward.

I'm not even going to get into the whole disability thing. Sorry your life has changed but spend some time with a guy who's been disabled his whole life to get some perspective. We had a client at work the other day who can only move her wheelchair with a switch activated by her nose or tongue. She'd trade places with you in a heartbeat.

Cdnone1 11-17-2009 05:21 PM

Reffing football was just part of his "therapy"!
Read the whole thread it will make you sick.
