Nice guys.

Porsche-O-Phile 09-11-2009 06:58 AM

Who's the jerkoff that gave this thread one star, you cowardly POS.

Remember 09/11/01 - never forget. And never forget the sacrifice of those who risked (and gave) their lives to save others'.

MotoSook 09-11-2009 07:07 AM

As a naturalized American it breaks my heart to know that so many natural born Americans have forgotten or could care less.

I was in Boston when this happened (I'm from NY) and probably saw flight 11 take off from Logan that morning. Almost all flights were visible from my office's windows. I still remember my girlfriend, now wife, calling me and telling me that a plane had hit The Towers. I was the first one to break the news to everyone at work. I had several friends in The Towers and luckily most made it out alive.

I just came back from a visit w/ my parents in NY and just stared for what seemed like forever at a 9/11 display at the NYS Museum. They had a destroyed fire truck, a lone police officer's badge and parts of the plane's landing gear (among other things) all on display. I tear up just thinking about what happened that day and all of the good people we lost.

My biggest regret is that I didn't follow my heart and leave my job to see if I could be of any assistance. One of my biggest angers is that most stats include the 19 POS terrorists in the death tole. To those who have forgotten what happened 8 years ago - get the F*#K out of my country! To bin Laden - there are enough of us that have not forgotten. Your day is coming soon.

myamoto1 09-11-2009 08:22 AM

Here are a few pics I had at work:

as i sit here out of work with no prospects, rapidly losing everything i ever worked for, i listen to this poor man and thank god for what i have and remember that 8 years ago i was standing outside watching the smoke, and that smell....it was likely an angel that kept me outside of those buildings that day

m21sniper 09-11-2009 09:33 AM

Now that's a disturbing tape. :(

VINMAN 09-11-2009 09:46 AM

I can only imagine what the 9-11 operators went through, staying on the line with them . All the time knowing that there is nothing that can be done.

There is no worse feeling than being with a victim knowing that they are going to die and you are helpless to do anything.

MotoSook 09-11-2009 09:46 AM

I had just finished listening to that tape when the fire alarm In my building went off. Just seconds. It was just a drill, I have to wonder what genius thought it was a good idea to call a drill on 9/11. Maybe it was suppose to be a reminder.

ramonesfreak 09-11-2009 10:03 AM

yes highly disturbing

i had only just declined a job offer in the building across the street, on the 2nd floor..which was totally blown out on 9/11.

I remember the firm owner said, "the job is yours if your willing to work like a dog on the weekends". I got a bad feeling and declined the offer.

A few weeks later the entire firm was destroyed and had to be rebuilt after 9/11....files reconstructed from nothing. I probably would have been in the WTC getting a coffee on that morning, or using the toilet at the Borders Books in the WTC as I was fond of doing....or horrified for life watching people jump

amazing how our paths in life can be affected by a few words

ever since then i have a distinct feeling that my instincts never lie, and, that life can always get worse in an instant

pwd72s 09-11-2009 12:28 PM

Just finished listening to the tape... How DARE some politicians say we should make nice with terrorists?

Oh Haha 09-11-2009 01:19 PM

Just listened to the tape.

May all of the victims rest in peace.

I hope the chicken**** terrorists rot in whatever hell they believe in. If they don't believe in hell, may the bugs eat whatever's left of them.

We got married 2 weeks after 9/11. When this happened I was on the road for work 90 miles from my fiance. I called her and told her I loved her, just in case.:(

Yeah, I was scared about what might happen.

Heel n Toe 09-11-2009 02:52 PM

I wonder if anyone has collected stories from people in the city who were connected or right there and put them into a book. I know of a guy who fell asleep on the subway that day and missed his stop... he was late to work... otherwise he would have been hit by the plane that hit the North tower.

Bill Douglas 09-11-2009 03:04 PM

One of our guys, Marc Weintraub, who was an active poster at the time had a close call. He went to a meeting in the World Trade Center and found it was cancelled. They appoligised for not letting him know and Marc said he was a bit pissed off as he walked away from the building, then Boom the first plane hit.

Emotionally the close call had a very big impact on Marc and he left NYC. He had a resturaunt business, so I'm not sure what happened to this, and soon after stopped posting here.

I hope all is well with Marc, and that some of the scars are healing.

Everytime I see pics of this I can't help but feel to hatred to Islam. The thing that pisses me off the most is we still bow down to these a-holes. Where does all the money come from to fund these murderous pricks. I feel for the families of the victims. No one would ever expect this to happen when they said good bye in the morning.
All those rescuers are friggin' hereos.

I don't want to listen to that recording

Laneco 09-11-2009 06:51 PM

That recording was one of the most disturbing things I have ever heard.

The scars of 9/11 aren't healed with me yet. Thought they were. I don't have nightmares any more, haven't had them for a couple of years. Then the end of the tape came.... My throat closed down and tears loosened, I remember every minute of that day. Definately not "over" it. Guess I'll never be. Maybe it's supposed to be like that?

ramonesfreak 09-11-2009 07:01 PM

ive been listening to the tape a few times per year to wake myself up. after a while the "OH GOD, OH.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" fades and you listen again. much worse than any disaster footage ive heard or seen including the space shuttle or hindenberg because of that emotion, that scream, in the seconds of death consuming a man who couldnt see what was coming. its not possible to feel sorry for yourself after hearing that. .....especially when knowing how many people were saying the same thing at that moment. heavy stuff

dentist90 09-11-2009 07:27 PM

Your neighbors to the north share your grief and anger. The good people of Gander, Newfoundland were all too eager to take strangers into their homes when US airspace was closed. I would have too. This was not just an attack on the US, but on all civilized nations of the world. Unfortunately it was the US who bore the brunt of this extreme religious zealotry. We are all still together in the struggle against al Quaeda and Islamic nut jobs. The peaceful nations of the world simply have to be united in this. It must not happen again.

The weather in NY tonight was awful so you couldn't get a view of the klieg lights from a distance.

I took these pictures a few years ago from the Queensboro (59th) St. Bridge..

Working nights, and working on bridges has weird bennies

taken with an elph from a bridge that moves

I kind of think this as connection from earth to heaven

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1252729071.jpg

I was working on another bridge then and got a "to good view" of the second plane hitting. As in its something I saw first hand and the image never leaves my mind.. I see it every day

There is someone on this bbs, who thought it was really funny when that photo op happened a few months back where a 757 came in low over the Statue of Liberty...:mad::mad:

Oil.

We give it to them, and simultaneously give them the reason to hate us (because we're "infidels" on their holy soil in Saudi Arabia).

The sooner we get ourselves 100% onto alternative energies/domestic production and tell them to go choke on their oil, the better off we'll be.

Since 9/11/01, how many countless billions of our dollars have been funneled off to our middle eastern "friends"? What exactly have we done to stem the tide of dollars to the middle east (some of which undoubtedly ends up in the hands of extremist, anti-American terrorist groups)?

As usual, we're our own worst enemies. We sit here in anger and horror at the events of 9/11 but ultimately are unwilling to change our own behaviors, which created the situation in the first place. I guess it's just more convenient to expect everyone to see the world our way and lob a few bombs at a country (Iraq) unrelated to the situation as a feel-good.

We're a very curious (and often a very stupid) nation - always looking for a phony, easy faux solution rather than doing the hard things necessary to effect change. Actions speak louder than words, sadly. We value convenience more than we value assertive action and commitment to changing the status quo.

I can't imagine what you see when you close your eyes, while I didn't have friends directly in the building, I have some in the area that normally would have been & one friend who was there the 1st time it was attacked.. I know we have members here who were directly affected and some here who went to aid, all I can say is thank you & prayers be with you...

We have our own oil, if we could just get past the Gov. to get it..

TimT 09-11-2009 10:30 PM

PoP and Byron...

please save the political comments for another thread

lets not go down that road

Porsche-O-Phile 09-11-2009 11:01 PM

Sorry but it's hard to not get emotional/passionate about this subject.

I'd love to see us honor the memory of those we lost by committing to doing things differently - not more "business as usual". It would show some resolve. That's all.

Thanks to all the cops/firefighters/emergency responders on here who lay it on the line for "average joes" every day.
