Got SHOT at...

I got shot at today. I was looking at some old 911s in a field I was interested in buying. I had looked at these ars twice before ( http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/507429-stumbled-across-4-5-old-911s-field-5.html ). When I went back today, to take another look, I was shot at 3 times before I ran away...

Should I call the police?

Geronimo '74 11-07-2009 08:28 AM

No, only after being shot at five times and being hit at least once, should you go to the police.

stomachmonkey 11-07-2009 08:30 AM

Sorry to hear and glad you are OK.

Not sure I'd call the police and admit to multiple trespasses on someone else's property.

Don't know your location but around here the property owner would be perfectly within their rights.

LakeCleElum 11-07-2009 08:32 AM

Borat: Did you get hit in the VAGEEN??????????

bell 11-07-2009 08:33 AM

Why didn't you try to go talk to the guy? Before the shots of course.......

Danny_Ocean 11-07-2009 08:39 AM

He missed? I wouldn't.

Rikao4 11-07-2009 08:42 AM

Was the property posted "no trespassing?" If yes then you should not have been there, but if not then I would call the police.

He posted pics in the other thread.

There's a barbed wire fence.

Proper Haiku:

I see the Porsche.
They beckon me.
Dayum! Was that a .308?

dad911 11-07-2009 09:34 AM

Or it's an old chop shop. Those cars are stripped and abandoned, I wouldn't go back.

Yes, and turn yourself in for trespassing.

450knotOffice 11-07-2009 10:05 AM

Trespassing in a wide open field near some junk cars. Yea, that's huge! Definitely worth potentially killing someone over.

In all seriousness though, just forget about it and stay away.

austin552 11-07-2009 10:10 AM

That guy needs to be shot for leaving the cars out to rot.

slakjaw 11-07-2009 10:27 AM

There are a lot of crazy people out there man. Either go back with something you can shoot back with or find the land owner and get permission.

If you do not know where to find the landowner, you can get that information from the county plat (sp) book.

I used to hunt this field and there was a sign on a nearby farm that said "TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT! SURVIVORS WILL BE SHOT AGAIN"

I do not remember how many of the words were misspelled on that sign but it was almost all of them.

slakjaw 11-07-2009 10:36 AM

if you do call the police you will prolly get a ticket for trespassing.... I doubt he will get a ticket but I would bet the sheriff will have a chat with him.

Also, was stuff around you being hit? How do you know they were shooting AT you?

It is deer season after all....

porsche4life 11-07-2009 10:40 AM

Trust me he wasn't shooting AT you.... He was just trying to run you off or you wouldn't be posting this...

herr_oberst 11-07-2009 11:04 AM

. . . wondered where you went, Vageen.

+1.

Unless he was over 300 yards away, you were well within fatal range of a high powered rifle.

Yes, of course, call the police! Do it right now.

You most likely were trespassing - depends on the state & what posting or fencing is required, but despite some of the ignorant comments above, it is completely illegal to shoot at anyone for trespassing on land anywhere in the US.

Any penalty for your trespass will most likely be minimal.

Anyone crazy enough to shoot at somebody in an open field like that needs a little jail time to cool them off.
