On a more serious note, if evil mom is really doing this, she might be scheming against dad. He should be very careful about communicating with the kid, particularly with email. There is software that can spy on the kid's emails and forward everything to mom.

Just get another phone, can be even be a pay as you go phone, give the mom the number and tell her she can call on the phone your friend bought when the kid is with him.

The key words here are "custody battle".

Dad needs to be careful - it sounds like evil mom is trying to gather data on him surreptitiously. I like the call-forwarding plan, personally. I'd give the original phone to dad's attorney and explain the tracking issue. If evil mom says nothing, then possibly there is nothing underhanded going on. If, however, she throws a fit because her "tracking" phone isn't the phone junior is using, dad can just tell her to call his lawyer.

And definitely be careful with emails.

Nope, I live in Oklahoma. Several members on the board know who I am. I will have the Porsche club Christmas dinner with them Saturday.

So far the dad in this just shuts off the phone when he has custody. He drops it in a kitchen drawer and it stays there until kid goes back to mom. If mom needs to talk to kid just call dad on his cell phone.
