It really is a 'fantastic' movie. The Pandora world is 'fantastic' the story is good - though basically could be described as 'space cowboys' and 'space indians' but that doesn't mean it wasn't good.

I saw the movie on an IMAX 3D screen. I can't imagine in a few years that this will be the only way to see a movie like this. The sound and images were incredible. As far as the movie, it was good, but kind of longer that it needed to be. It has many holes in the story also, like how come at the end the spears go through the windows or the helicopters when initally they just bounce off? Was it me, or did others find the women of the tribe hot?

I finally saw the movie over the holidays.
Absolutely incredible. A definite must see (3D) on the big screen. Yes, it is Dances with Wolves (in Space). Yes, there are some holes in the story. Yes, the blue chicks are super hot. Overall I give it a 10. I did not think it was too long at all, went by very quickly. I never looked at my watch the whole time, which is very unusual for me. The fact that you are watching a cartoon most of the time and do not realize it - speaks volumes for the production staff. The characters come across as very real.

I saw it in 3D this weekend. Beautiful picture, very nice to watch. Worth a see, especially on the big screen.

![]() My guess is that the windows of the ships were reinforced from the bottom only, not the top. It seemed that most of the kill shots came from above. Yeah, the blue chicks were pretty hot.

It is a real language - it was invented by a linguist out of some university. I heard the interview on NPR. Really interesting. I think he is the only one that can actually speak it but knowing the art of marketing and capitalism, he will have a Rosetta Stone CD of it as well as self-help books. Before you know it, geeks all around the world will be able to converse in it. Mark my words...

Saw it on an IMAX 3D screen. It was awesome. I'd pay to see it again. The 3D seemed so natural that anything less will now seem like watching black and white after color came out.

Klingon is still the fastest growing language.

'Avatar' could top overseas record today
Source: The Hollywood Reporter Sat Jan 23, 2010, 8:00 am EST James Cameron's "Avatar" is likely today to eclipse the foreign boxoffice record set 13 years ago by James Cameron's "Titanic." "We expect 'Avatar' to pass 'Titanic' at the international box office (on Saturday)," predicted Craig Dehmel, Fox International's senior vp of sales and strategic planning. Distributor 20th Century Fox won't report Friday and Saturday gross numbers until Sunday morning. Through Thursday, "Avatar" amassed total foreign earnings of $1.173 billion, just $69 million shy of "Titanic's" foreign record of $1.242 billion. With the former grossing at least $20 million daily overseas on the slowest days, weekend action is almost certain to propel "Avatar" ahead of "Titanic's" foreign record today. Foreign earnings are driving the "Avatar" phenomenon with nearly 70% of its worldwide boxoffice of $1.690 billion coming from offshore playoff. Worldwide, "Avatar" as of Thursday still had $153 million to go to beat "Titanic's" record global boxoffice take of $1.843 billion. |

Just saw it last night - (need to get out more. . .)
• The plot contained just about every action / adventure film clichè from the last 40 years. • The special effects are beyond belief. Some of the 3D tricks were really clever, like the Colonels face in the mirror when he was in the Mechanized Soldier contraption. Somebody has really figured out how to create the illusion of living creatures. A whole 'nother level. • Blue females - tall, thin, nubile, great butts, great titties, practically naked, plus a tail. What's not to like? • 3D - looks like it's with us for a while, the trailers for all the other films (Shreck, Alice in Wonderland, something else I forgot) - all in 3D. I guess I'll get used to it. Bottom line? If it weren't for the amazing CGI, it would probably be a bomb. (edit) The incredible CGI is worth seeing, for sure, but I hardly consider it to be Best Picture material.

I know. I'm just merely stating that those numbers are misleading when comparing the success of films made in different eras.
You know to me, a great film needs to have 3 good ingredients: Great acting, a great script, & great directing (sfx are just icing on a cake, really). I don't see how Avatar can be claimed to be one of the year's best when it doesn't have all of those. Last edited by AFC-911; 01-24-2010 at 07:21 AM.. |

Finally saw it yesterday. As stated visually stunning. Great blue butt and boobies. Sigourney looked great in either form! Very, very creative in the forest scenes. Loved the air jellyfish.
