I guess I have only one question for all you folks that have been happily married for 20-30 years:
Got any single daughters?

I agree Graham. I have decided that I need to find a girl that was raised by a Porsche guy.... Only problem is the local PCA guys all seem to have daughters way older or way younger than me....

Celebrated our 25th Anniversary just 2 weeks ago.

Don't know what I'd do without her!

I'll ditto what Chuck said, in fact it was almost like I wrote his original post. Cheers to you for posting it.

I always new exactly what kind of women I wanted and how I would treat her, respect her and love her. I got exactly what I wanted, just like I always do.

If you focus on the negative crap, then you'll get that; but if you focus on what you want the world will ALWAYS deliver that to you! It's 2010, wake up, this is no longer a 'secret'. Life by design...... 100%, everytime.

I am still enjoying the high that I got this morning having coffee with my wife and talking about our day, our upcoming weekend, our life and our dreams. She is the best thing in the world and the feelings I have for her make me so very happy. The same goes for my children. Life is so good and its way too short to be unhappy........ be happy.

We're reaping in the benefits of a great life, so much to look forward to......

The great thing about swimming in the same pond is that you can dive in head first and not be concerned about being physically injured!

I try to remember how lucky I am to have such a wonderful woman in my life.

From the title of the thread, I thought there might be pictures....

I prefer to think of it as the same river. Always the same but always different . As I tell my kids, "MOM" upside down is "WOW."

I have in the past already. I was 17, joined the Army on delayed entry 3 days before i met her.

I got the whole Dear Jody experience. It was just swell. Of course, that was long ago.

Here she is again...

Honestly though, i think you just underestimate my fondness for variety. I get bored pretty quick.

Variety is great, but I thought it would be worthwhile to make a plug for long term relationships- that is a path to happiness.

On the other hand think of all the great music, art, and literature we would be missing out on if it wern't for stories like yours Sniper. All the pain of broken realtionships makes for some really outstanding rock (and country) music!

+1 for women...

sniper, in that last photo... well... you don't look so happy, which may explain why you turned out the way you did!

I respect your beliefs, but can't agree with your generalisations about "women", given that you've never met about 99.999% of them on the planet

I've been married 11 years and happier than ever now!
I guess two things I'd consider relevant here for guys that prefer variety to consider:

(a) I love my kids and think bring them up in a happy/stable home is the best thing for them
(b) I look forward to every day of my life, knowing she's there

The "variety" thing would probably work if those two didn't matter to me

I think life is a lot easier with a team mate than trying it solo, I was lucky to find one who complments my strengths and weaknesses.

I've had many long relationships, been engaged twice. It has only solidified my opinion that variety is the spice of life.

I find that life is much, much easier when i don't have to worry about someone else's problems. I have enough of that with family. The last thing i want is a chick's drama tossed in for good measure.

Seriously.

Just think, had i settled on the girl i first fell in love with...

I'd have never had this...

Or this...

Or this...

Or this...

(sorry for the water damage, this is an old pic from the early 90s)

Or this...

Or this...

Have i made my point?
