If these great artists produce such great art, how come every once ina while some priceless piece of heretofore unknown art is discovered lining the drawer of a beat up old sideboard or whatever? Pollock was a fraud and even he knew it. At least the elephant was a genuine elephant.

He was both an illustrator and an artist.

And he was indeed great on both accounts.

As you have stated above (see blue font).

You?

What's valuable often has absolutely nothing to do with the skill of the artist. It's got to do with a bunch of stuffed shirts who decide years after the artist's death that he was in some way trendy or ground breaking.

Most modern art is pure trash. Pollack is definitely in that category.

Modern Art?

Some Douche thinks so. To me, it's a crucifix in a jar of piss...

I wouldn't pay $.10 for it, but i would laugh in the face of the "artist" for free.

I have known some brilliant artists, and they all have one thing in common. None of their work is worth squat. Even though some of them have 100x the technical skill of many famous "artists."

"He was indeed!", eh?

Well, I guess you told me!

As far as your blue font...need I express surprise that my not using green font (oh so helpful to the semi-literate here) allowed the sarcasm to fly over your head?

Geez! It was such a low trajectory shot, too!

Geez, Dari, I thought that maybe you had something worth reading on the topic. Nope.

But at least you try to sound like an expert.

Art is communication. ...not random paint splatters. ....unless, of course, randomness is what is the intent of the communicated. ...and really, how much skill does that take?

Any douche can fling paint on a wall. It takes a special kind of douche to imagine some greater pattern or purpose and pay good money for it.

Apparently, I did indeed.

And apparently, you had nothing of substance with which to refute my assertion, too.

I was wondering if you were going to state that illustrators aren't artists.

Apparently, you're not willing to attempt that kind of BS.

Yeah, I saw that...what can I say?

I have also had 2 works displayed at the Phila Art Museum (when i was a yute).

Wow! Closest I came to that was having a painting exhibited in an invitational at the Cheltenham Arte Centre years ago (know nothing about the place - they invited me across 3000 miles and I sent them a painting to hang).

Out of high school my 2 career choices i was deciding on were 1) Art- i was accepted at Tyler art school in Philadelphia,

Wow! And to think that today you maybe coulda been drawing monsters for comic books!

2) Military.

And that "career" lasted...how long?

You?

Aw gee, gosh, shucks...well, since you ask (blush), BFA and MFA (Univ. of CA - they own one of my works)), membership and exhibitions in numerous galleries and museums in SoCal over the years - Long Beach Museum of Art, San Diego Fine arts gallery, to mention two (both juried exhibitions).

What's valuable often has absolutely nothing to do with the skill of the artist. It's got to do with a bunch of stuffed shirts who decide years after the artist's death that he was in some way trendy or ground breaking.

Uhhh, ohhh! Snipey a lil' bitter he din' make the comic book big time?

Most modern art is pure trash. Pollack is definitely in that category.

WHOA, Snipey a lil' bit bitter awright! And woefully uneducated to boot when it comes to art.

But ENOUGH of this waste of bandwidth!

Why on Earth would I waste my time doing that for someone who's close-minded, wouldn't listen, probably couldn't underatand if he did (you've not read my previous posts on this thread...right?) and flaunts his ignorance as if it were some kind of badge of honor?

Like I said, waste of bandwidth.

Blah, blah, blah, DARSICK.

Any time you feel the urge to assert and explain how illustrators are not artists, you just go right ahead.

Duchamps was either an abstract artist, bored carpenter, or pissed off cyclist.

Or all three...

You'd think this mugshot of Gary Coleman would be something Diane Arbus would have done...if she were alive. I guess Joel-Peter Witkin will have to do...

Cast pearls before swine? Why? You haven't even perused this thread, but with your eyes closed, ears plugged and an obvious lack of education on the topic, you don't hesitate to shoot your mouth off about that which you obviously know precious little.

Oh, wouldst this were a fencing match,
with canny thrust and parry.
But no, tis boring whack-a-mole with
dumb Tom, Dick and Harry.

Yawn...g'night.

You just referred to everyone here as swine.

You also referred to your work as pearl-like.

I'm thinking you don't realize how stupid you are lookin' right about now.

BTW, you're asserting that I'm uneducated on the subject of art.

Wrong again.

All us little piggies wanna see some of your work. C'mon... let's see a couple of examples.

And again... any time you feel the urge to assert and explain how illustrators are not artists, you just go right ahead.
