Oaxaca Trip
My wife and I are probably heading to Oaxaca in late Apr for a few days to a week. Anyone have any good recommendations about the city? We've been researching trip advisor and chowhound (we're foodies), but I'm always interested in the Pelican brain trust points of view too.
Thanks! Pat

Be sure to read Malcolm Lowry's "Under The Volcano" before you go.

Dottore,
Will do, I'm not sure why I should read it yet, but you have generally provided advice that I tend to agree with for some reason. Vash, also planning to try that to a limited amount. Almost always good fun to drink the local drink no matter how it goes down. Wishbone, definitely no weed or drugs of any kind. Thanks for the input.

It's a great work of literature by a writer in his prime. And it is set in Oaxaca, and is full of brilliant descriptions of the place and various customs etc. And it is a wonderfully existential look at drinking heavily—pro and con. And much more. A really good read. PS: There's also a film version that is a lot of fun—but which lacks the depth of the book.
