After having a small chip on a tooth a few years back and joking with the dentist about pulling out the Dremel, he told me the gray grinding stone bits are the best ones to use! He said the pink colored bits don't work as well.

Death knell for the dentist's drill?
These may not be available to the public. Some proceedures are better left to the pro's.

You a dentist I take it?

I started makign them when I was 21. 38 now. Several of those years as my sole profession. They're made of Lang's Jet Acrylic, using a 3M dental putty to make the outer shell in a two-part mould, and drop-filling, fitting, and grinding to get the final shape.
I more or less retired several years ago, haven't done any for about seven years or so.
Durable enough to eat with, and even tear through a soda can, but I've never accidentally bit myself with them.

I've got one here that I found a few days ago that still fits. If I can find it again, and a soda can, I'll post a short video.

Diamonds. The high speed drill is little more then a wet saw. Water cools the tooth from the heat and the enamel of the teeth is a lot like porcelain.

I was having tooth pain today and went to the Dentist on an emergency. They pulled out an old silver filling an refilled it. Xray looked OK, but it might have been "leaking". I couldn't imagine doing that work myself. I HATE the dentist. I walk out and my clothes are all sweaty from me being tense about it.

They have a TV in front of the chair. I had them put on CNN and Obama was speaking at GMU. It was funny, I had the assistant talking like crazy about HC and all that while I'm numbing up and getting harder and harder to talk. Took forever to get numb, I could barely move my jaw it was so numb....and I was hungry! I don't think I tasted my lunch, my tongue was so numb.

Teeth are much stronger then the acrylic these were made with.
On a sad note, during the attempt I made today, I broke the fang... not surprised though, as the material was quite thin for the best appearance.

Those "silver" fillings were chock full of mercury solvent......
The technology is improving thankfully with lazers, adhesives, etc. Mabye someday they'll actually design a muffler for the drill.

Hate dentists, I'm a big baby when it come to any extensive work.
My friend the dentist is especially brutal.
Broke a tooth around Christmas, went to my friend who said $6,800.
Did some research in my social network and got the name of a great dentist in TJ.
Go all the work plus to additional veneer for just over $1900 and no pain. I guess the Mexicans get the drug thing better.

Caveat: stay in the designated safe zone or you may need a doctor for a gsw.

"Is it safe"

Dustin Hoffman, Sir Lawrence Olivier, Marathon Man, (1976).

I'll leave the drilling part as an optional view:
YouTube - Drilling for facts

BTW, most dentists know the movie, and the quote.
