Show me your boots!
Just got a pair of Redwing 8146. Nicely made with quality materials, will take some breaking in but expect it to last me 10+ years.
Was a Timberland fan but their quality has been dropping.

I had a pair of Vasque boots for ten years.
Now they are made in China - and a new pair is still the same price. But the leather is not as nice. |

I paid $39.95 for my Frye's at the time. Thought that was a lot of money. Those were the days when everybody had those square toed boots. Most had the straps around the ankles. I liked the boots at the time, but never cared for the straps. Can't believe I've had those things for 40 years. Although I just gave away a pair of Galibie Vercore (sp?) hiking boots I bought in France in 1979. Talk about heavy compared to modern boots, but I owned two pairs consecutively and got 800 hiking miles out of the first pair, and the second pair had a bunch of miles on them but many more left.

  Full grain leather, not a year old. Almost broken in.

 Not the most expensive in the world like Leddy's but very nice and affordable. Also made for YOUR foot. No website, they are not that fancy, its all word of mouth with them. I'll play . . . jungle boots issued 1993 (sometimes worn with Nike inserts, other times no inserts). Have put thousands of miles on them. Every now and then I'll polish the heels 'n toes to parade standards . . . not today, though.
