My 19 year old is a good kid but he has the " Aim low, achieve your goals, avoid disappointment" syndrome. My 15 year old on the other hand was the #1 50cc expert desert racer in district 38 by the time he was 6, he is now an accomplished RC airplane pilot and club instructor, he is also working on his turbine waiver. Not real dangerous, but its what he wants to do.
I used to race dirt bikes, I have been lowered out of a helicopter on to ships at sea. flew off and landed on an aircraft carrier, got to fly an LCAC. I still have goals but they are more like, make sure my family is comfortable and happy. Eventually I want to get back into flying, but I am in no real hurry anymore.

On a universal scale, human achievement = Less than zero.

On the cosmic scale I don't think we are getting passing grades as a race.
